I could not care less what any NFL team is named. They can change their name to the Washington Trayvons for all I care.
HOWEVER, I care deeply about disrupting the growing power of the tiny minority who seek to rule us through intimidation and force. That's what the battle over the name of the Washington NFL franchise is about.

As a Baltimore guy, I loathe the Redskins because of what their dead owner did to keep a team out of Baltimore for years. But this “issue” is maybe the silliest ever. I do enjoy calling them the “Racial Slurs” to tweak their liberal fans, but changing the name would be profoundly stupid.

I don’t understand why you were offended by my reply; NBA teams change their names regularly, it’s easy to miss Supersonics are now the Thunder for instance. That’s all I meant .I actually do think a sports forum would be a good idea for FR, it would provide a continuity of discussion that few other themes provide, that would be good for traffic and donations, I would think. Sorry I offended you.

I always thought that naming your team after a group or a tribe was because you admired them and wanted your team to be tough like the Redskins or the Indians were. Color me shocked to learn that those people were insulted by it.
No one has ever named their team the Lilly Livers , or The Wimps, or The Cowards. There is a good reason for that.
