However, whether or not a country is important to the US should not necessarily depend on what we import from them. More imports may (may) simply mean fewer jobs for Americans. In this case, long term (10 - 50 years) geopolitics are far more important.
I’m not saying that there aren’t geopolitical implications, and I’m not saying I like where this is going. I’m saying that Ukraine is too far removed from us for the people to get behind spending blood and treasure on it.
Face it folks, our Asian and European allies are on their own.
