“The article states he had 300# of black powder - quite a bit more flammable. They’re lucky they didn’t blow the place up if they were using jaws of life on a safe full of that stuff.”

Yup. Black powder is an explosive and if it was stored inside a safe could make quite a bomb.

So, if he had the powder in safes, he could have multiples of 400# stocks within the law...of smokeless.

I’m trying to figure out why the cops needed to search the house. Ok, sure, because they’re bullies and can step on We the People’s rights.

The lesson here is never ever call the cops unless there’s a dead body. Even then, before calling, hide the guns, the ammo, the pop tarts, the computers, the cell phones, the dogs, the kids, the pot of oregano on the kitchen window sill, the kids’ toys that might be considered weapons or dangerous, all pocket and kitchen knives, precriptions, the garden fertilizer and any loose bits of wire and pvc in the garage. After that, put fresh batteries in the nanny cam. Make sure you await the SWAT team’s arrival in the front yard in full view of the neighborhood. Leave the front door open. Say, “Yes, sir!” and avoid eye contact and keep your hands steady and visible at all times. Better yet, don’t be home.

Mrs. AV”

I suspect that it was all stored responsibly. A person that keeps multiple safes for his firearms and teaches black powder firearms courses seems like the kind of guy who would. They are just ignorant cops trying to make a big deal of nothing, so as to justify their “you must respect my authority” attitude. The warrant sounds bogus.

He uses the black powder for antique firearms.

Of course, who would expect their safe to be torn open by the cops using a piece of equipment meant to save lives. I wonder if they had a warrant? Sounds like he did not agree to open the safe himself.

I hope he sues them for a million bucks.
And gets his 300# of black powder back! And all his guns!!

Yep, I got that. My remark was to another poster who posted some legal jargon r/t smokeless powder, which is not the same thing as black powder.

I used to enjoy some black powder shooting - I do love the smell of gunpowder!
That and gasoline.

You are right. I bet his vindictive wife told some big story about his guns, too. Poor guy, gets stabbed in the neck in the AM, then gets rolled for his guns and powder afterwards.

I hope he sues them into oblivion!

I seem to remember a short story by him [Vogt]about a futuristic gun store and how the anti gun people were not allowed entry. I have to see if I still have that book it would make a great movie.

“He’s lucky to be alive only have insult added to injury. They confiscated ALL of his weapons? Is this even legal? Did he get fair value for them or the crap rates they give for the buy backs like $10 a gun?”

I guess I can understand the 300 pounds of black powder being an issue. But what is with taking all the other weapons? I’m betting a lot of them were collectables, something you wouldn’t dream of actually firing.

And yet some here still support cops to the hilt.

...Mr. Lintner was charged with causing or risking widespread injury or damage for possessing more than 30 pounds of black powder.

I have a PENIS. I hope that I don't get arrested for being a RISK of RAPE!

You also can't keep it legally in a residential neighborhood.

I've a propane grill.

I hope I don't get arrested for having 'bomb making' materials.
