A federal appeals court has denied a request to delay its ruling striking down Virginias same-sex marriage ban.
A panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond on Wednesday denied the request by a county court clerk in northern Virginia to stay the decision while it is appealed to the Supreme Court.
That means that without intervention from the U.S. Supreme Court, same-sex couples could begin marrying and have their out-of-state marriages recognized by next Wednesday.

The GOP will keep silent and stay in the background here so as not to seem mean-spirited or intolerant.
Yes that’s where we are at with homosexual marriage. Court after court is imposing homosexual marriage, but we do not hear opposition to these decrees any longer.
Not a word. Just a couple election cycles back, Team Rove told us gay marriage would be the death of civilization as we know it. Today - ZERO. It’s all just a game, and I for one no longer want to play.
Perhaps the Supreme Court will step in. Prayers for revival in America.
