The European Court of Human Rights condemned Britain once again on Tuesday for banning prisoners from voting, while ruling that inmates who challenged the ban were not entitled to any compensation.

The Strasbourg court recognized moves to change the law in Britain, but said the blanket ban remained and was still in breach of the right to free elections enshrined in the European Convention of Human Rights.

The case was brought by 10 prisoners who were automatically banned from voting in elections to the European Parliament in 2009 because of their incarceration. …

Great idea. Let people actively opposed to civil society vote on its governance!

Enshrined in the European Convention of Human Rights is the right to go where you want, live where you want, etc., but not while incarcerated. While serving a sentence in accordance with a duly legal court of law, one should have to obey the strictures of that sentence. In the UK and the US, felons lose their rights to go as they please AND vote.

Don’t do the crime, if voting is such an important issue to you! I cherish my freedom, for example, so I don’t commit acts that would have me jailed and not free anymore. Simple as that!

Now, according to Napoleonic Law (France), one is guilty until proven innocent. Seems far more against the “European Convention of Human Rights” than not being able to vote in prison.

Just like the Federal Courts here in the U.S. overturning State Constitutional amendments.

Hell’s bells!! I would restrict voting to property owners, as the republic intended.

The European Court of Human Rights

Hold on a tick. Is this an actual court, with jurisprudence and powers of law, or is it some whacky communist front group?

European Convention of Human Rights.
This is one of those things that the anarchists/communists love, but doesn't work for real people and real nations.

Just out of curiosity, has the delusional group ever filed a complaint against Strasbourg or Germany/France?

Reminds me of the strong trendy anarchist movement in Europe in the late 19th Century whose primary aim was the elimination of countries. If the world were run by the insane, it could not come any closer than these petty, history-ignorant pompous jackasses calling themselves the "World (anything)"

The European Convention of Human Rights?

Give me a break!

Amen!
The concept of accepting the reality of society parasites and voting to burden the productive withour recourse, is pretty close to the definition of Mob Rule.

Making the working productive citizens essentially slaves to the indolent, with no say in the matter, who make the whole mess possible is a real contradiction, bordering on insanity.

Everything in the EU is associated with Marxism of some form; if not that, then Fabianism.

What’s laughable is that the European Court of “Human Rights” is nominally not part of the European Union but of the so-called “Council of Europe”, which uses the flag of the EU and has about 47 member states (a sort of EU-based UN that calls itself Europe’s “leading human rights organization”), but is not “officially” part of the EU.

Depends on who you ask. According to the morons who run it...

As someone once famously said, "How many divisions does the The European Court of Human Rights have under its control?

The Schengen Agreement is not officially part of this.

The parts of that convention referring to such things were signed by the UK but not ratified.

Let’s just think about it. For 200 years, if you wanted to vote, you had to go to a voting site. If you’re in jail, you’re automatically denied that. Nothing in the prison rules about benefits...i.e., a ride to the polling place.

Notice how the leftist always support evil. Take rights away from those who obey Gods laws, give rights to those who break Gods laws.

Abortion/population control vs be fruitful and multiply, homosexuality vs homosexuality is an abomination, welfare over hard work, atheism and removing God, supporting Muslims and not Israel, Darwin not a creator, division by race, income, sex...rather than living in peace, against military and allowing evil to grow vs standing up and fighting evil (gun control), freedom vs government control (free will), voter ID vs voter fraud, constitution vs chaos, color vs character, environment sacred vs God, life and freedom sacred,.....

It goes to show, it’s ALL spiritual. The left doesn’t realize (most) that they are preventing every good gift from God.

That was the definition of the left from its beginning. The Communist Manifesto insisted on rejecting and abolishing the family, private property, everything associated with the “past” as something in and of itself as evil because according to Marx’s upside-down theory, all such relations create “class struggle” to keep certain people perpetually in power.
