On August 9 Gabby Giffords will "[try] to resurrect gun control" by appearing in Maine to raise money for gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud (D).
Michaud is currently the U.S. Rep. for Maine's 2nd District.
According to the Associated Press, Michaud says he and Giffords formed a friendship as "conservative 'blue dog' Democrats" during their time together in Congress, and he stands with her in pushing for more gun control now in the area of background checks.

I feel so sad about what happened to her. But she is being used as a useful idiot by the gun control crowd.

Gaby Giffords was shot by a law. She doesn’t need more laws. The law that killed her was the one that doesn’t allow parents with mental health professionals and judges to commit mentally ill adults to institutions for their own safety and that of others.
There will always be guns. It’s not about the guns. Gaby lived her whole life up to that point surrounded by people with guns: we all do. They don’t shoot us. Neither do the same people carrying them.
Uh, that should read “sane” and not same.
