I would prefer Palin, Cruz & Mike Lee to be next president, in that order. For the simple reason those have a backbone to effect serious change of direction. If they can’t win nomination, I would prefer Rand Paul over Jeb, Christy and Mitt. But 2016 nominations are a long time away. Let’s wait and see how things unfold first.
First, I don't buy the premise that "peeling away Democrat votes" is how we win. Whenever we try and peel away them, instead of convincing our base to vote and the undecideds that we are right - we lose.
Second, Rand will not peel away any votes. Oh, maybe 400 in Berkeley will vote for him, MAYBE - but Rand won't ever flip a single precinct, let alone a single state, because some young millineals think's he's cool.
How do you know Huntsman would have been worse than Romney in 2012?
Easy. Everything bad about Romney, was worse in Huntsman. Everything good about Romney, was not there in Huntsman. He was a friggin phony and a disaster. But again, straw arguments - both of them. The Daily Beast knows their article is bullsh-t, and you fell for it - because you want to believe it.
We just don’t know how 2016 unfolds, yet!
It is eons away in political time scale.
Although Iowa & NH are going to be quite interesting.
I never liked Huntsman at all. He came across to me as a slickster. If I remember, he was appointed as ambassador to China by Obummer. That was enough for me to not trust him.
But my opinion or your opinion of him does NOT translate into how he would have fared in general. We just have no way to know since he was never on the ballot in November 2012.
Why? Rand talks like them all the time.
Instead of pandering to the non-traditional GOP voters they should shore up the base and then spend time recruiting the massive amount of eligible voters that don’t register or bother to vote. Get 10-15% of them to vote and you’d wipe out the Dems.
Okay, we don’t “know” for sure - but my instincts over 30 years have been extremely accurate - and Huntsman was, like I said, worse than Romney on all fo Romney’s bad points and not as good as Romney on Romney’s good points.
He would have run an even more tepid timid campaign than Romney did. And THAT WE DO KNOW .and I think I know that such a campaign would have fared even worse.
And Rand is going nowhere in ‘16. Mark it down.
Who is going somewhere in 2016 since Rand is going nowhere?
Hey Rand, check yourself out of politics, and get lost.
You can’t check him out, and neither can I.
The primary voters in 2016 are the real “deciders” (to use a GWB terminology).
Sorry if I ruffled your feathers.
You really don’t know?
GOPe does not like either Cruz or Paul, do I have no clue who is the front runner. I am guessing Jeb or NJ Fats.
Cruz will be nominee. Paul will not be competitive. Mark it down. You’ll see.
As of now I am giving Cruz about 20% chance to win nomination. Considering all 7 GOPe backed senators won
primaries, Cruz will be attacked mercilessly by GOPe
in primaries.
If nominated, Cruz will lose to Hillary in a near
landslide in November. Cruz will energize every
liberal and black to come out and vote. Because
the democrats fear him the most. Mark it down.
I would be ecstatic if Cruz is elected POTUS.
But I gave up dreaming long time ago. Only one has a small
chance to beat Hillary, and unfortunately it is NJ Fats.
Only good thing about him is he will better in debates
than Jeb.
