People don’t get the new Obamacare lawsuits, but they think all exchanges should provide subsidies
The Washington Post ^ | August 5, 2014 | Jason Millman

In short: People haven't paid that close attention to these challenges to Obamacare, and they don't totally understand them. But they mostly agree that anyone eligible for a subsidy should be able to receive it, regardless of who's running an exchange.

The new Morning Consult poll of about 1,800 registered voters found that 58 percent of those surveyed said all exchanges — whether they're state- or federal-run — should provide subsidies, while 15 percent disagreed and 27 percent didn't offer an opinion. As the below chart shows, those identifying as liberal were more likely to support subsidies in any exchange (74 percent), although those identifying as conservative were twice as likely to support subsidies through all exchanges (47 percent versus 24 percent).

Americans “think all exchanges should provide subsidies”

But Democrat Congress only allowed State run exchanges to provide subsidies.

So subsidies by the Federal Government are illegal, since the Democrat Congress did not authorize that expenditure.

Now, to fulfill the WaPo’s “Americans” with exchanges that all provide subsidies, Congress must pass a NEW law that allows the Federal Government to spend money on that.

Good luck with that.

Ask them how much they are willing to pay for $1,000 worth of coverage in order to give subsidies to others. Are they willing to pay twice what it is worth? Three times?

BUT THAT RESTRICTION IS WHAT THE LAW SAYS! I am so sad to realize the complete dumbing down of our citizenry. The Left is high-fiving all over the place.

The law is very specific.

The Feds wanted the States to do all the work...and then you know what happens....the Feds renig on their end and the states wind up picking up the tab. Can you say Medicaid II?

Push Poll!

Sorry, Washington COMpost, the fight against the death panel law is going to continue until that law is as dead as Che Guevera.

**********************

Well, then they should take it up with the DEMOCRATS who wrote the bill, including the language that only gives subsidies to state exchanges (arm-twisting measure to get states on board) and crammed it down America’s throat since they were the only ones to vote for the bill - not one Republican voted for it.

By the way, this moronic journalist openly admits people don’t understand this issue, but have an opinion on it anyway. O RLY?

Hey, tell ya what, fascist journalists who support Obama...how about picking up a Constitution and READING IT?

Thank you for referencing that article SteveH. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

People also do not understand that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate public healthcare purposes. This is evidenced by the following excerpts from historical Supreme Court case opinions.

As a consequence of people not knowing about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers, people do not understand that they should only be dealing with their local and state government leaders, not their federal representatives, their state representatives having the 10th Amendment-protected power to regulate, tax and spend for intrastate healthcare purposes.

Correction. A lot of Americans think all exchanges should provide THEM a subsidy paid for by someone else.

Most people don’t understand but everyone should get free money from the taxpayers anyway.

Heck with what the law says. Just do whatever “people” think the law should say.

Yup, a lot of people think health care should be subsidized. It always comes as a shock to them when they find out THEY are the ones paying to subsidize other people and not the other way around.

By the time they learn this bad news it is far too late to do anything about it and they are screwed.

Democrats are masters at that game

They’re trying to intimidate the Republican leadership with the potential for an uprising by the unsubsidized.

Let's see:

Leftist lie (public really, really wants subsidies for Federal Obamacare exchanges), reported by a Leftist Presstitute (Jason Millman, Washington Post), quoting a Leftist Poll (Morning Consult poll).

Who could have guessed it?

To be eligible for a subsidy you must purchase through a state exchange.

Subsidies are a nightmare.

They will go up and down for individuals based on income...or where you live...or a host of factors which change constantly.

What a mess.
