Actually there are about 35 “third parties” with the libertarians having the largest one and are part of the international libertarian movement

Pop culture. Generation X and Generation.com have been, and continue to be influenced by music, movies, celebrities, TV, professional sports, video games, etc, more than anything else. More so than by family, more so than by their schools, and vastly more so than by church. If we ever hope to get our message across to younger Americans, we have to package it in a form they'll accept and open.

We need our own Jon Stewarts and Bill Mahers. We need our own Katy Perrys and Pinks. We need our own George Clooneys and Woody Harrelsons. They're out here, ready to contribute (yeah, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm one of them), but the first thing conservatives have to do is get over our disdain for anything having to do with the arts and entertainment industry. The Left has used it to damn near destroy our Republic; we now need to embrace it, and use it to win the Republic back. Otherwise, we can waste our breath from now 'til Doomsday talking at Generation X and Generation.com, and it'll continue to get us nowhere.

Thank you for referencing that article Eagle Forgotten. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

I’m afraid that the only reason that people are concerned about which political party is in control of the federal government is the following. Parents are not making sure that their children are being taught the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers.

In fact, military issues aside, given that one of the very few powers that the Founding States gave to Congress to make its existance known to citizens on an almost daily basis is the power to deliver the mail (the Constitution’s Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I), doesn’t the idea of having political parties for the purpose of deciding policy for the US Mail Service seem a bit strange, an overkill?

The problem is that most of us have grown up under a corrupt federal government. And as a consequence of people not being taught about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, people are inadvertently indoctrinated to accept the idea of political parties as somehow being an intrinsic aspect of federal politics, instead of waking up to the idea that most of the federal government services that many people are now dependent on are constitutionally indefensible.

Finally, given that some folks want an Article V convention, they might want to consider the following. I think that the next amendment to the Constitution needs to have a provision which prohibits political party support for the constitutionally limited power federal government.

Short answer. Sadly, no

I agree....BUT!

There is a way to do it.

The way you do it is from the inside of both parties. The TEApartiers are well on their way right now.

Conservative "third parties" could also infiltrate the RATs, but they would either have to run in certain types of conservative RAT districts.....

or LIE like a rug, pretending to be a RAT, and then defect some time after they were seated in whatever body.

Agreed. I believe, though I do not want it to be so, is that the USA has steadily moved leftward as the 60s punks gradually took over all the institutions that inculcate civic values. What many Freepers do not understand is that we are a splinter and fading minority. The electorate in the aggregate has proven repeatedly that they want a bigger more intrusive government.

Like I said, it is not what I want, but I look around and it is what I see. Given that, there simply is no longer any political option for reclaiming the nation.

Yes, that will certainly help the cause.
The future belongs to those who come along behind us.
So what classification are you in?
Singer, songwriter, comedian, actor?

See post 62. I like boycotts, but they're nothing new, and apparently are having little effect, especially where Hollyweird is concerned. They are the same ol', same ol' thing that's been done for generations now, and therefore won't inspire younger people to do much more than shrug their shoulders, yawn, and go back to their rap videos.

If we're going to change they way young people think about conservatism, about their nation, and about "the way things oughta be", we have to go to them...they're not going to come to us. That means we need to wrap our patriotic message in action movies, filled with explosions, car chases, and full-auto weapons fire. We need to wrap our conservative, pro-individual message in heavy metal and (gag) rap songs. We have to pool our money to buy control of NFL and NBA teams, and force the players to behave themselves, dress and talk like responsible adults, or lose their jobs and go back to washing cars in downtown Chicago.

Or we can continue to throw our support behind out-of-touch Pubbies like Romney, expect kids to tune in to Limbaugh and Hannity of their own accord, and skip World Star Hip-Hop in favor of the Heritage Foundation website. IOW, we can continue to get our a**es kicked, and lose our Republic sooner rather than later.

After fighting a 50 year battle, I'm growing weary.

Gee. I'm sorry you're tired. All you have to do is drag yourself out in November and vote. Vote. Vote for the lesser evil.

It's not much of a choice, but it's a choice.

I agree with your assessment. (But it was the Whig — not Wig — Party.)

I'm a musician and songwriter, with a bit of actor and comedian thrown in. Below is the link to my You Tube channel.

Granted, rock and roll isn't everyone's cup of tea; neither are metal, pop and hip-hop. But that's what the kids are listening to, so that's where we have to go to reach them. With the exception of Liberal Girl, all the songs are just scratch recordings, done at home. They'd sound a he**uva lot better if I could ever raise the funds to get into a studio and have them professionally done. But in the meantime, I'm trying to get my songs out to whoever will listen to them, and maybe they'll plant a seed or two in some skull full of mush.

No. Voting alone isn't enough...it earns you a "D" on your citizenship report card. Our Founding Fathers gave us a powerful weapon called the First Amendment, that we've only used about 10% of. Either we start using the 1st to get out voices heard, or we'll wind up having to use the 2nd.

Hmmmm, may not agree. While the immediate future may be predominantly for the libtards, the people who actually have a brain and have had enough of the libtard bull$shit will and are, sliding to independent. I know of many doing that now. Marginalizing the GOPe into oblivion may be a good thing, a total cleansing, while then taking control and moving voters of the Independent Party more to the right.

I believe the GOP jumped the shark.

Calling their Conservative base was their “Whig” moment.

The “GOPe” is a result of the leftward swing of the electorate. The only way we’ll get Conservatives elected again is to win the electorate over to Conservative values.

No, the GOPe is the result of Conservatives “holding their noses” and supporting the GOPes “perfumed Princes.”

Whenever a Republican with Conservative values and a Conservative message enters the scene the base is energized. The GOPe responds by squashing the Conservative.

I don’t see the party recovering from the Mississippi event without a purge.

And how do you propose to convince enough people to do all of this on a scale large enough to make an impact?

It would take the combined efforts of Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz and several other players to make a viable party that wouldn’t automatically mean a Democrat win.

Someone else gets it!

How many GOPe voted for Obamacare?

They didn’t need the cross over votes.

“Maverick” McCain and his “Gang of Eight” were standing by just in case.

Is there a difference between the GOP and the Dems? One wants amnesty to fill a new voting block, and the other wants amnesty to fill their pockets with Chamber of Commerce money.

I could care less who wins. They both have the same end goals.
