Vanity: Some all comedy stations have dropped the format as distribution of 24/7 comedy ended. One is KFNY AM 1440 Riverside, CA, which is now news-talk as "IE (Inland Empire) 1440". As one would expect with Clear Channel this probably means syndicated talkers like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity. Not sure, as the KFNY website doesn't have a schedule yet but I just went to iHeartRadio at 11:06 ET--8:06 PT--and heard Glenn Beck.
So if you like conservative talk and are up there, it may be worth checking out. (The site does have a new logo, a mention of news-talk, and news headlines but again, no schedule info and the facebook for "comedy 1440" doesn't have much, either). Needless to say some moonbats' heads exploded yesterday morning when it came on, judging from some facebook posts I saw.
I will post a map of the signal range below. Those of you east and southeast of L.A. may find this will come in better than the KEIB 1150 which premiered just after the new year (a former progressive talker)
How anyone can listen to Glen Beck is beyond me. I will say that I have been surprised at how many of my So. California school friends are conservatives
Yup—oh by the way I guess they do have the url http://www.ie1440.com and maybe they’ll finally put the schedule on that.
In Boston Clear Channel tried all cons. talk WXKS 1200 with 2 local hosts and also Beck, Rush, Hannity, etc. When they ditched it (first for comedy and now it’s leased Bloomberg radio), CC put Rush (and Coast to Coast) back on WRKO 680, and recently a “libertarian/lifestyle” station launched—WUFC 1510—and they’re satisfying Clear Channel by running Beck and Hannity (as well as JT the Brick and Jay Mohr from Fox Sports Radio, which is dist. by CC/Premiere)
Someone pointed out on radioinsight they were surprised KFNY didn’t ditch the comedy around New Years, as it gets microscopic ratings, and KEIB’s signal isn’t the best...they should have placed Rush, Sean etc on 1440 then.
Re conservatives in Calif., isn’t Orange county at least well know for a conservative streak?
KFNY running someone named Sam Sorbo (?) at 9 PT. Rush is apparently still on Salem Comm.’s KTIE 590
they do have the sched up now
6am-9am
The Glenn Beck Program
(9-noon Sam Sorbo as I said)
12pm-3pm
The Sean Hannity Show
3pm-6pm
Andy Dean
6pm-9pm
The Jerry Doyle Show
9pm-12am
Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis

Wow, a 1000 watt “graveyard” station gets out that far?
Supposedly though I’d think the “local” and “distant” circles of that map may be accurate while the “fringe” may not be. Stations further down the AM dial, esp. with not much power,
have a tough time with their signals and don’t forget electrical interference, but still...
