In an editorial board meeting with reporters and editors of the Tennesseean, Sen. Lamar Alexander was asked whether or not he supported Rep. Marsha Blackburns bill to block President Obamas Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and touted his support for the Senate "Gang of Eight" amnesty bill in response.
The solution for that is the bill I voted for last year, which doubles border security, which ends perpetual amnesty not just for DREAM act children, but for everybody whos illegal here, and then creates a legal immigration system, so thats my preferred solution, he said.
Alexander did cosponsor the Senate version of the Blackburn bill, introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Immigration hawks cite the Gang of Eight bill as helping create a perception in Central America that people who cross the border won't be deported.
In separate remarks at a campaign stop over the weekend, Alexander actually accused opponents of the Gang of Eight bill of backing amnesty.
"In 2013, I voted to end amnesty for 11 million Americans who are illegally here...I voted to double border security and I voted to create a legal immigration system. If you are opposed to that, then you're for amnesty," Alexander said, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

“end amnesty” now means “grant full amnesty immediately, rather than a continuing de-facto amnesty.”
Exactly! It’s sad to see a guy like Alexander go this route. At one time I some respect for the guy. Now..., he just another jackass in need of retirement.
Yep, his solution is to grant immediate amnesty with little guarnatee that the floodgates will be closed.
Alexander’s been in the Senate chamber with nut cases like Harry (the Rustler) Reid and Barbara (dumber than a box of) Boxer so long he’s lost his marbles too.
Down is up and up is down.
The problem is the Gang of 8 amnesty bill he voted for last year, and the amnesty bills pushed by W in 2006 and 2007, and all the talk of amesty and dream acts that have been a lure to illegals for years.
I hope the people of Tennessee won't fall for this triple talker again. Maybe there's time for enough voters to really see what he's been doing in DC for years.
Lammer is bought and paid for by the Chamber of Amnesty.
I voted to create a legal immigration system.
