The More President Obama Plays Golf, The More Conservatives Should Loudly Cheer Him On

“If you see ten troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that nine will run into the ditch before they reach you.” – Calvin Coolidge

A recent report in the New York Post revealed that since his 2012 re-election, President Obama has attended 75 fundraisers, and played golf 81 times. Conservative media have predictably made a lot of noise about the doings of our alleged “duffer” and “fundraiser-in-chief,” suggesting that Obama dithers as the domestic and global situation deteriorates.

More realistically, true conservatives should rejoice our golf and fundraising obsessed President, all the while hoping that future presidents will follow his 2nd-term lead. Indeed, had Obama maintained his present schedule throughout his presidency he’d now arguably rank among the greatest of all American Presidents, including conservative heroes Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan.

To understand why the above is true, it must be remembered that governments tautologically have no resources. The latter isn’t an ideological statement, it’s simply fact. Governmental ability to do anything is a function of resources being extracted from us first. More to the point, whenever government officials “do something” they are altering what would naturally occur if market signals were allowed to direct resources over the uncoordinated hand politicians.

In the tax and spending sense a government utterly bereft of resources is fairly obvious. That the federal government can spend results from it taxing us directly, or borrowing against our future taxable productivity. Logic dictates that this spending is a barrier to growth for it replacing the abundant knowledge of the marketplace with the narrow knowledge of politicians. One can only conclude that believers in the economic retardant that is “stimulus” spending comically presume that Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner are better at investing than are Ken Fisher, John Doerr and Paul Tudor Jones.

I’d wager that he’s attended a helluva lot more that 72 fundraisers.

He’s attended 2-3 fundraisers PER TRIP.

I am not sure what the author is saying, but, OdumBO should be playing golf as a reward for doing a good job, not for the country is better off when he is not on the job.

That's what I've been saying for a long time, the best thing Obama could do for this country (short of resigning) is spend LOTS and LOTS of time on vacation or the golf course.

I doubt Obastard has made a single policy decision during his tenure.

RE: I doubt Obastard has made a single policy decision during his tenure.

Dare I mention the horrid Affordable Care Act named after him?

The author is saying that Obama should just keep playing golf in order to keep him out of mischief, not to reward him.

I’d cheer him on for golfing so long as he leaves his Pen, his phone and his crackberry at home.

Duff away pal.

On the one hand, it pisses me off that he gets paid by us to do nothing other than play golf and raise money for 'Rats. But, likewise, if he were in DC, all he'd be doing is running his mouth and putting his ugly mug on TV, which makes me sick to think about. So, either way, as usual, we get screwed by a 'Rat. On balance, I guess I'd rather have him out of sight (on the links), and out of mind.

Keeping with the golf meme, this is just par for the course for Odouchebag. He's never done any real work in his life, so why should we expect him to now? He just wants the perks of the office, not the work. So, to hell with him, we're going be hosed no matter what he does or doesn't do for the next two years.
