The Israeli military says a soldier reported missing in Gaza on Friday is dead.
Hadar Goldin was believed to have been captured by militants during fighting, leading to the collapse of a ceasefire shortly after it had been declared.

Israel’s military has declared dead a soldier who was previously believed captured by Hamas gunmen in Gaza violence that shattered a temporary ceasefire
You're in a better place, now, soldier.
Rest in peace.
Clean house, BiBi!
Too bad these Islamo-Nazis are right next to Israel, otherwise I’d say nuke ‘em from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.
He was probably killed during the engagement, but the terrorists dragged him off.
That's what I was thinking.
Such a beautiful young man, has a twin brother, was engaged to be married(The wedding was supposed to be in 3 weeks) RIP to a true hero, may the savages who took his life get the punishment they deserve
Wait ..what? How does the IDF know this? Do they have his body?
The IDF is NOT like the OBooHoo NSA, CIA or FBI. The IDF is competant.
Have your read someplace that he was killed during the engagement?
The IDF spokesman announced early on Sunday morning that at 11:25 p.m. on Saturday, the Chief Rabbi of the IDF, Brigadier Gen. Rafi Peretz, declared the death of IDF officer Lt. Hadar Goldin, who fell in battle in the Gaza Strip on Friday.
The decision was made according to the findings of a special board, headed by the rabbi, who consideration medical, halachic and other relevant considerations.
I get that. It’s just the article from the BBC was so light on details.
"Free Republic is here to continue fighting for independence and freedom and against the unconstitutional encroachment of ever expanding socialist government...
We believe in the founding principles with all our hearts and mean to defend them to our dying breath..."
If he were alive the Hamas savages would have paraded their “trophy” by now.
This certainly blows up the speculation that the captured Israeli soldier would be offered in trade for maybe 1,000 (or whatever number) Hamas prisoners held by Israel.
And I have no doubt the soldier in captivity probably went through an ordeal not unlike what was visited upon Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi.
Killed before he was taken?
No. I’m just guessing.
