The House of Representatives voted Friday evening to pass a bill that blocks President Barack Obama from continuing or expanding executive amnesty via the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program or programs like it.

The bill passed 216 to 192, with 11 Republicans voting against it and 4 Democrats voting for it.

“Not sure about in the areas these 11 represent, but here in NM I usually hear Hispanics that came legally being just as vocal as we here on FR are about illegal immigration.”

The DIRTY LITTLE SECRET that Republican consultants (most of them gay, by the way) won’t tell Republican lawmakers is that Hispanics are actually SPLIT on the issue, from what I’ve read in polling data.

They like the idea of Amnesty for those that are here, possibly because of relatives or friends that are not legal, and the idea of deporting people you know is (understandably) painful to think about. ON THE OTHER HAND, they do not like open borders, as they know what kind of people live down there, and DEFINITELY would like to keep them there, especially the bunch from Central America.

So a fence is ACTUALLY A WINNER with them, while being against Amnesty is a minor loser (but probably not a big deal), and being for rounding up and deporting is a major loser for their support (and probably not really needed, if you can just cut off the goodies they get here).

What happened to the rest of the DEMOCRAT votes? Did they abstain or something? I know Cantor did.

Re: “What have YOU done to stop this problem????”

All I can.

For the last 10 years, I've been one of the best informed, most passionate, and most prolific posters on immigration issues at Free Republic.

In 2005-2006, I was a leader in the Free Republic “insurgency” that destroyed the Bush-McCain Amnesty.

Re: “HAVE HOPE this could be the catalyst that breaks Obama’s hold!”

The time for “Hope” is over.

Conservatives have been betrayed by the Republican Party on immigration so many times, we can no longer trust them.

Actually, America might be able to survive the “illegal” immigration issue that upsets so many people here.

But, it is mass “legal” immigration that is politically destroying Conservatives.

And there is no political will, even at Free Republic, to stop “legal” immigration.

In 2014, we will issue 1.1 million new Green Cards.

Most of the recipients will be low skill, low education workers who crush the wage scale and employment opportunities for native born Americans.

In 2014, we will create 750,000 new citizens.

80% of them will vote for the Democrat Party.

Conservatives are aggressively committing political and economic suicide as we speak, and no one seems to understand, or even care.

By the way, Ted Cruz does not have clean hands on the immigration issue.

In 2000, he helped write George W. Bush's immigration policy, which eventually morphed into the Bush-McCain Amnesty.

In 2012, Cruz campaigned for more work visas for Texas farmers and ranchers.

In 2013, Cruz wrote an amendment for the Gang of Eight immigration bill that increased H1B work visas by FIVE times.

Yes - I’m just guessing.

I have no data on how Russians vote in America.

But, there is abundant data that new immigrant citizens - as a group - vote 80% for the Democrat Party.

Cruz’s wife is big time into the ‘makers and shakers’ as a member of Rockefeller’s new world order club.

Coffman was “re-districted” in 2012, after the 2010 Census.

He won easily in his “old” District.

In 2012, in his “new” District, he won just by 2%.

I read that Coffman is your Senate candidate, too, right?

Almost 10% of eligible voters in Colorado are Hispanic.

When you consider how liberal so many white voters are there, he may have no choice but to try to soften the damage that Hispanics might do to him.

No apology necessary.

If you hang out at Free Republic, your heart is in the right place - even if we disagree about the details.

coffman is my rep. Gardner is the senate candidate. The hispanic population in this congressional district is as low as it gets in colorado. Having said that the illegal vote is huge since the piece of crap in the Gov office signed same day voter registration about 2 years ago...

I remember it well. It was 2010. Everyone was so excited because the gop had taken the house. But I don’t see where Obama has been stopped on anything.

Thanks for the Senate update.

Several people on this thread said Coffman was the candidate.

Same Day Registration:

Elected Republicans are so frightened about being called racist, they will accept almost any outrage - legal or illegal - before they will try to stop it.
