House revives, approves border crisis bill – as Obama vows to ‘act alone’
Fox News ^ | 1 Aug 2014

The House late Friday revived and approved a Republican-authored border crisis bill after GOP leaders hurriedly resolved an internal battle that scuttled the vote a day earlier – but with the Senate on recess and the House soon to follow, there’s little chance of any bill reaching President Obama’s desk until the fall.

The president now is vowing to act unilaterally to address the illegal immigration issue.

The House legislation was approved on a 223-189 vote. The new version of the bill adds additional funding for the National Guard and includes policy changes meant to speed deportations of illegal immigrant children surging across the southern border.

However, a separate Senate bill died on a procedural vote a day earlier, and no more votes in that chamber are scheduled until early September.Even if the Senate were somehow to approve the House bill, Obama vowed Friday he would veto it.

In the absence of any legislation that all sides can agree on, the president threatened to act on his own to address immigration challenges, potentially during the five-week recess.

"I'm going to have to make some tough choices to meet the challenge, with or without Congress," Obama said Friday, speaking to reporters in the White House briefing room.

He later added: "I'm going to have to act alone, because we don't have enough resources."

Sources described the changes as relatively minor -- "adding a few periods," as one lawmaker put it -- but nevertheless changing some minds...............What we don't know is what kind of pressure was put on those who changed their minds

Let the boy act “unilaterally”. The Kenyan cares more about foreign freeloaders than he does the American people. This is why the Founding Fathers wanted the U.S. President to always be an American. The low information types/”white guilt” liberals really screwed that up.

Somebody get me clear on this language.

Doesn’t ‘deportation’ refer to a revocation of a residency ‘status’? That is, doesn’t a ‘deportee’ need to have some sort of prior approval to reside in the US, which is then revoked by the deportation procedure?

These people have no rights we need respect (humanitarian, yes, but legal, no). Crickey, I sound like Roger B. Taney).

They are invaders pure and simple. We don’t owe them anything except a C-130 flight back to their country of origin.

He should act alone in the sense that he should ...

1. tell Central American Presidents to stop sending these bums over here

2. rescind his previous policies that restrained border agents from doing their jobs and enforcing our borders

3. support state efforts to control our borders ... and

4. resign

Yes - Osama/Obama should act alone.

This is pretty much noise. Any bill passed by the House will sit until the Senate get back from the recess (30 days). And nobama has already said he’ll veto it.

Yes, but now the GOP can go home and campaign on being successful in passing a bill.

That's NOT what Obama wanted.

Sounds excessive to me. How about a one-liter bottle of water and, for directions, a finger pointing South.

Clever. Now the democratically controlled senate is MIA and Obama is stuck. He can go ahead and act unilaterally but is in a box of his own making.

This will prove to be a good Repub move for one reason.....Boobamba announce he will veto the bill.

Recent polls find voters lean Republican for their strong stance on immigration———FAR ABOVE all other issues.

What they passed actually looks pretty good. Its dead in the water but its something worth rallying around and some democrats are already getting hammered for opposing what’s in it.

It is almost as if 0beyMe is begging for impeachment under rule 303.

As much as I want him out of office I hope no one tries to harm him. The Dims would make him into a martyr faster than John Kennedy.

I was against this but I read the bill summary and it was wonderful. We have the House taking ACTION. We have the Senate on vacation and the “president” playing golf. We look great. I was wrong.

WHERE'S THE SENATE?"

Oh that's right, if the Senate was SERIOUS about passing a border bill that fixes Obama's mess, Obama wouldn't have the excuse he needs to PASS AMNESTY ON HIS OWN.
