Another day, another radical move from the Obama administration. In a big win for the more opportunistic corners of the organized-labor movement, the National Labor Relations Board decided this week that, in a range of labor cases involving McDonalds, it will consider the corporate parents of franchise businesses liable for the labor agreements reached between franchises and their employees. The NLRB has maintained otherwise for 30 years, refusing to consider corporations with franchises to be part of a joint employer arrangement.
Why decide that corporations are employers of employees whom they dont hire, dont pay, and cant fire? Because the decision likely makes it easier for employees at franchise businesses to unionize on a national level and to bring wholesale complaints against national corporations. This is a bad deal for franchise owners, of course, who run hundreds of thousands of American small businesses, and it will hurt, or fail to help, their workers.
Those workers have shown little interest in unionization and mass movements that the NLRB decision could enable. Incidentally, a number of the decisions that could change the joint-employment precedent concerned last years strikes in which hundreds of fast-food workers (out of the industrys millions of employees) demanded a $15-an-hour minimum wage. That theoretically national movement is a concoction of Big Labor organizations such as SEIU. They are much less interested in raising McDonalds workers wages than they are in expanding the financial and political resources they can draw on for progressive causes.

Have the illegal appointees been thrown off the labor board yet?
Mc D is a symbol of a successful American business. Naturally, the leftists want all its money. This is just a start.
“Why decide that corporations are employers of employees whom they dont hire, dont pay, and cant fire? Because....
Obama’s Marxism is on the march, and it’s coming to your town, too - and soon!
The commie unions are getting desperate. It’s getting tougher by the day to steal other people’s money from their paychecks. Thieves make me sick.
bttt
... and all their decisions reversed?
Yep, but Mc D’s has other problems as well.Prices are up, quality is down and same store sales have been slipping quarter over quarter for over a year now. We haven’t stopped at a Mc D’s in years.
No mention of whether this was done by the illegal Nation Labor Relations Board appointed by Omugabe...
Why do you suppose?
I will assume that McDonalds Corp will appeal this.
They got my support!
Any legal recourse/appeals process for this? I can’t imagine any of the major franchise model corporations just sitting idly by on it.
Well, as soon as the Union Goons move in and get everybody a $20/hr minimum wage, the union income will be set for a few years.
Remember, for generations, now, unions exist to milk the workers (and indirectly consumers), and to make sure that their financial status remains one or more steps above the rest of us...
Competent or not!
If history is the eternal teacher, here...
Throughout world history, people seeking dominion over other people have always claimed that their desire for ultimate power served some greater common good.
Yeah.
And it has a precise name.
Fascism
It is impossible to grasp the true concept of Fascism without returning to an age of clarity and facts vs opinion and editorializing; before personal definitions, euphemisms, the puerile, self-serving age of "depends of what the definition of "is", is.
According to the Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Collier-Macmillan, Volumes 3-4, 1967, pp182-183 et seq.:
...whereas Liberalism, socialism, democracy, and the other progressive movements of the nineteenth century had asserted the rights of man, the selfish claims of the individual, Fascism sought, instead, to uphold the moral integrity and higher collective purpose of the nation. And whereas liberalism saw the state simply as an institution created to protect mens rights, fascism looked on the state as an organic entity which embodied in itself all the noblest spiritual reality of the people as a whole. Fascism opposed the laissez-faire economics of the capitalism and the bourgeois ethos which went with it.
But fascism equally opposed socialism, which preached class war and trade unionism and thus served only to divide the nation. Fascism could tolerate no organized sectional groups which stood outside the state, for such groups pressed the supposed interests of some against the true interests of all...
...fascism set up corporations which were designed to integrate the interests of particular trades, industries, professions and the like into the wider harmony of the state.
The name, again?
FASCISM
Omamacare, anyone?
The rat party is desperate for union contributions. Have to see where this stunt goes.
“Yes but the GOPe cut a “Gang Of” deal to replace them with others who are every bit as radical.”
Excellent. The useless GOPe strikes again.
$15 bigmac combo. This will drive me to be a vegetarian.
