I wonder how many Republicans (after working as a hill staffer, or after being voted into office), would say "I support traditional marriage," and then when working as a lobbyist would switch sides in a millisecond?

This is what you get: GOP candidates run on traditional issues, and then bait and switch and spend most of their time defending banker-bailouts, defending borrow-and-spend and increasing the deficit, won't reach out to Tea Partiers and so on.

Or you get staffers who "support" something, and then switch sides later...

When do the American people get a lobby? These are supposedly our representatives. When do we get some representation?

I don’t support people who wish to define sodomy as marriage.

The Republican party can rot in hell if that is their position. I sure won’t join them.

Save the exceptions, Republicans represent our interests only to the extent of getting elected; otherwise, it’s about their desires, their wants, their greed.

Since when should a tiny, tiny percentage of our population be allowed to have this much influence on a political party?

Doesn't it sometimes make you suspect that politicians (and I mean virtually all of them) don't really believe in much of anything at all other than their own careers? I think that they'll say, they'll believe, and/or they'll say they believe anything that helps them succeed. I don't think that they really understand what it means to really believe in anything that is more important than themselves because they cannot believe that there is anything more important than themselves.

That's just the way I view politicians.

The issue is losing its toxicity from a Republican perspective," she said

Yes it is. Drip by drip. But this isn't new. In 1987 (27 years ago), Marshall K. Kirk and Erastes Pill wrote and article titled The Overhauling of Straight America. Here are the first two paragraphs:

Here's that quote again from Ms. Lehman, ""The issue is losing its toxicity from a Republican perspective."

Drip, drip, drip, drip. God is NOT happy about this.

It will never end with gay “marriage”. Religious freedom is the ultimate target as one sees with the baker punished for not celebrating gay “marriage”.

I suspect this Lobbyist is ok with govt punishing that baker.

SSM and abortion are deal breakers for me. I will leave the Republican party over any party endorsements of these things. Call me single issue, I don’t care.

Get government out of marriage and leave it with the churches. That there IS traditional marriage.

They’re going to drop every issue eventually.

Amnesty and borders was the first. Next maybe gay marriage, then maybe abortion etc etc.

Genesis 1

English Standard Version (ESV)

26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
