Israel asks U.S. for $225 million to replace missing Iron Dome parts

Israel has requested an additional $225 million in United States funding for the production of Iron Dome components, in light of the wide-scale use of the system during Operation Protective Edge.

In a letter to the leaders of both houses of Congress on Wednesday, U. S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hegel wrote that the Department of Defense "has reviewed and supports this urgent request."

The additional funding, if granted, will increase Iron Dome funding from the U.S. to more than half-a-billion dollars in the current financial year.

Both houses, which previously doubled the Iron Dome allocation requested by the administration, are expected to accede to the request.

Even Obama can't get in the way of this. Israel has strong support in Congress and on both sides of the aisle.

This probably troubles Obama and his administration as they want to be on the side of the terrorists.

He can delay it while he “studies” the request. Kind of like the Keystone pipeline.

Oops, sorry, Israel, but we just ran out of money after giving another billion dollars to Iran.

Thanks for playing, though!

“Hey, which one of you jokers lost the fire control?”

America - the world piggy bank that everyone despises but need. We are the Don Sterling of the world and it is V. Stiviano who will betray us for 30 pieces of silver.

It’s the “language barrier” ... :-) ...

What that Israeli paper means is a shortage of parts.

Israel has a budget of $400 billion for 2014.

If anything, this should be a loan.

Watch Obama and Kerry try to tightly tie this to accepting a cease-fire/surrender/peace (piece) deal.

We shouldn’t be giving ‘foreign aid’ to ANYBODY.

I completely support Israel's right to defend themselves... but why are we paying for it? Israel is a first world country with a first world economy and cutting edge tech industry. They used to build their own fighter planes, for cripes' sake. Why are we sending them foreign aid?

I'm sure they could come up with some extra cash if they ended government-funded abortions there.

But, no. We'll pick up the tab. Again.

Israel has to beg for this even as the US pledges $47 million to Hamas.

Already, Congress has indicated that it will double the Pentagon’s request for $175 million for Iron Dome in 2015. This would bring Iron Dome funding to $575 million for next year.

I wouldn’t be surprised. They already have made it illegal for US airlines to fly to Israel, probably to last until the Kerry ceasefire is imposed on Israel in the next few weeks.

It didn’t sound like any begging here ... it was IMMEDIATE!

And Israel doesn’t beg in Congress for funds, as there is overwhelming support there.

Because Israel is the epitome of our Western Judeo-Christian heritage and culture, along with the freedoms that we have in our style of government - and the only one like it in the Middle East.

As has been pointed out before by others, Israel is fighting on the borders of the Judeo-Christian West, and HOLDING THE LINE for us in the West against hoards of mongrels in the Middle East.

If we supported my ONE COUNTRY in the entire world, that one country should be ISRAEL!
