Seems like it gets worse every year. Two years ago we were evacuated for almost two months. So far in my area south of Blewett Pass we’re good, but the fire season has a long way to go.

We’re in North Idaho - lots of smoke this AM - sun is red.

We have been lucky to not have anything major in our area for years (keeping fingers crossed)...

Smoke from western fires is giving us spectacular sunsets here in the Twin Cities.

The air here in N. Idaho smells of woodsmoke. The sun is red. The EPA won’t allow the DOD to give military vehicles and equipment to local wildland fire crews because the engines don’t meet their ridiculous emission standards.

Will this ever end or are we doomed to live in idiocracy?

The EPA won’t allow the DOD to give military vehicles and equipment to local wildland fire crews because the engines don’t meet their ridiculous emission standards.

The massive amounts of smoke from the fire represent many orders of magnitude more "emissions" than the engines. EPA is full of fascist retards with no common sense.

The DOD rule that says the FPP can’t be used to transfer equipment that don’t meet emission standards has been in place for 25 years. John MaCain and Mark Udall both urged for a variance and worked on a reinterpretation of the rule. The restrictions were lifted two weeks ago.

Yup. In Calif, the fire departments had to get rid of perfectly good fire trucks because they couldn’t afford the upgrades to meet emissions.

Like they could even see an emission from a fire truck, during a fire.

Your statement of logic indicates you have ‘sluggish schizophrenia’. Sorry, soon to affect many more FReepers.
