The Jihadi Menace Gets Real
The American Interest ^ | 6/23/2014 | Walter Russell Mead

Posted on 06/23/2014 1:50:59 PM PDT by mojito

ISIS is bigger, badder, richer, and better organized than any jihadi threat the United States has faced thus far. Its rise represents a foreign policy disaster of the first order.

A group more radical than al-Qaeda, better organized, better financed, commanding the loyalty of thousands of dedicated fanatics including many with Western and even U.S. passports? And this group now controls some of the most strategic territory at the heart of the Middle East?

Welcome to President Obama’s brave new world.

[....]

One wishes we had a Republican President right now if only because when a Republican is in the White House, the media and the chattering classes believe they have a solemn moral duty to categorize and analyze the failures of American strategy and policy. Today that is far from the case; few in the mainstream press seem interested in tracing the full and ugly course of the six years of continual failure that dog the footsteps of the hapless Obama team in a region the White House claimed to understand. Nothing important has gone right for the small and tightly knit team that runs American Middle East policy.....

Rarely has an administration so trumpeted its superior wisdom and strategic smarts; rarely has any American administration experienced so much ignominious failure, or had its ignorance and miscalculation so brutally exposed.

If ISIS does succeed in forming a "state" it will be the nastiest state since Nazi Germany.

And how long before this "state" gets nukes?

The Jihadi menace is being abetted by the Democrat Party.

I agree. I articulated it here: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3170217/posts

In a real way, Iraq is poland of September of 1939. But from what I’ve seen, these guys are far more ruthless than the Nazis were.

The current administration isn’t very worried. After all, they’re just poor, downtrodden, misunderstood practitioners of the religion of peace.

I would say that Bambi is whistling past the graveyard by describing this major Islamic incursion as a “sectarian conflict,” but that would mean I felt he was just naïve.

Truth to tell, he hates the US and has always supported the most radical form of Islam in any country where it appears, because he regards Islam as a vengeance on Europeans and Christians, whom he hates thanks to his imagined, hallucinatory relationship with his Marxist Muslim father.

And some sources tell me that they’re using our own money against us by setting up front companies and borrowing federal funds then not paying them back but instead shipping it overseas to radical elements. I call the businessmen “Jihad Johnny’s”

It's been my conviction for some time now that Zero's unstated foreign policy consists of aiding the creation of a Sunni Islamist state somewhere in the ME.

An examination of the record leads to few other conclusions.

Be ready, my fellow “infidels”, be armed and trained and ready.

This isn’t Iraq or Egypt or Pakistan or Nigeria. Here the “infidels” can shoot back, with bullets dipped in pig grease.

No worries ..... ISIS is not bin Laden (he’s dead, you know) so they’re just “jayvee”. [/s]

The sad thing is that this war is going to be long and insidious. We’ll be dead and the next generation or the one after that may not have the sense to fight back.

Who would have thought that England, the country that almost single handedly held back the Nazi menace would be in the sad state it is in now. They will be gone before they realize they lost the war.

Not just the dems. The globalist elite decided that Khadafi and Assad were threats to their global domination of oil, wealth, and access. So the US (under both GWB and Obama) funded, trained and armed "freedom fighters" to overthrow them. Except these freedom fighters weren't about to win the battles and hand those countries over to puppet govs chosen by the US and our puppet masters in SaudiArabia, Qatar, and the global elite.

So those "freedom fighters" took their training, financing and arms and formed a rogue terrorist group. The only thing that's going to stop them is going to be a WW2 type effort in which civilized nations drop their differences and destroy ISIS.

This is an even worse threat than the Nazis were. That's because in today's world it will be much easier for ISIS to go global, become entrenched, and cause unstoppable end-of-civilization terror.

Based on what's happening, and how slow leaders are to respond to the threat, this is not an exaggeration.
