” AR-15s come in a wide variety of calibers before needing to go the extended case length required by the AR-10. Just a few of my favorite calibers in the AR-15 format include but are not limited too, the .458 Socom, 6.5 Grendel, .50 Beowolf, .300 Blackout. All you need to do is take an upper in any of those calibers (including .22) and it mates directly to your AR-15 lower.”

So then it would be an AR Grendel 6.5 etc. The AR is a platform the AR 15 denotes caliber just like the AR 10 denotes caliber.

The AR15 is a model designation not a caliber designation. It is perfectly correct to say "AR15 in 6.5Grendel"

When you buy triggers, safeties, mag releases, unfinished uppers, buffer spring, buffers etc. it's all AR15 parts. The only parts unique to a caliber swap are barrel, bolt and sometimes mag. Everything else is standard AR15 as opposed to AR10 which has all it own parts. (Excluding Colt)An AR15 trigger fits in any AR15 regardless of caliber.

AR10 also comes in calibers other than .308 like, 7mm-08, 284Win, 35Rem, 300Savage, 257Roberts, 358Win. 270WSM, 7mmWSM, 300WSM, 325WSM, 338WSM, 450Marlin etc. They are all AR10s just in different calibers.

“loud-mouth Elmer Fudd, who apparently knows little, or nothing, about firearms”

Why would you assume this? If an older guy told me he had been hunting all his life, I would assume that he had good skill with his rifle. Plus I tend to have more respect for somebody who develops mastery of a particular tool over many years, than for somebody who all hyped to “mod out” his new toy, and swap it out for the next cool new model the next year. Which is more characteristic of the AR15 crowd.

And btw, the whole “Elmer Fudd” comparison thing is just needlessly insulting. So you’re knowledgeable about laser optics? Good for you. You’re tricked out with the latest tactikewl whatever? Have at it bro, it’s your paycheck. But don’t disparage every hunter over 50, who’s spent years mastering the exact same weapon and is a crack shot, as somehow the equivalent of a retarded cartoon character just because he doesn’t share your enthusiasm for high tech gadgetry. It just makes you sound like a jacka$$, frankly.

Fudds.

The Second Amendment isn't about deer hunting.
