(The following is not the exact text from Issa, but rather our own summary of the questions):

1. Explain, in detail, Lois Lerner’s 2011 hard drive failure, including the date it happened, and give the names of all employees who worked on retrieving data from it.

2. When did you learn that the hard drive failure affected the Oversight Committee’s subpoena into the IRS targeting scandal, and which IRS staffers realized that the subpoena could not be fulfilled?

3. Explain all the steps the IRS took to retrieve data from Lerner’s hard drive

4. Name all IRS employees that worked on agency email servers between 2009 and 2014.

5. Name all IRS contractors that worked on agency email or hard drive systems

6. Give the names of the IRS employees most knowledgeable about email servers and data retention

7. Identify the IRS employees that last had possession of Lerner’s computer, cell phones, hard drive, backup email tapes, and information about errors in IRS electronic hardware

8. Give us all relevant information about IRS document retention policies

9. Name the type of email service the IRS uses and the type of email exchange server and tell us whether any email is stored on an IRS shared drive

10. Explain in detail the IRS’ electronic data restoration and archival systems

11. How many forensic images from Lerner’s failed hard drive still exist?

12. How many forensic images from Lerner’s failed hard drive still existed on August 31, 2011 (when the IRS’ contract with Sonasoft expired)?

13. List all the software and hardware malfunctions that occurred at the agency between January 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011

14. Give us Lerner’s computer barcode.

15. Give us Lerner’s cell phone barcode.

The short version of the IRS response will be “No, what are you going to do about it?”

Why would he cooperate with that list?

Indeed - the IRbastardS demand information to this extent and detail out of the citizens that they are supposed to be serving with the consent of,

so they need to be hammered back.

Or disbanded, preferably.

Good point - there are no consequences forthcoming if he doesn’t...

besides the eventual tar, feathering and lamppost decorating.

And the IRS response is:

nothing for the IRS knows Congress will not cut their spending and will do nothing but cry.

1962 - Adlai Stevenson gets up in Russki’s face...

“...prepared to wait until hell freezes over.”

And Adlai was called a liberal. I would like to see Issa act like THAT!

Might as well get this reposted.

How about this? How about we stop the “nothing’s gonna happen” meme that dominates this board? I am sure it makes some feel smart and smug. But, that steady stream of demoralizing comments, thread after thread, day after day, is actually aiding and abetting.
Someone correct me and defend the strategy of constantly declaring defeat in the midst of the battle.

The short version of the IRS response will be “No, what are you going to do about it?”

The congress has given up their ability to influence the administration by agreeing to the omnibus budget bills.

By basically agreeing to "block grants" to operate the government, they have lost all of their leverage with individual agencies.

And Adlai was called a liberal.

He was a liberal. Some Republicans derisively called him Add-a-lie Stevenson. Of course not as many liberals were communists in those days.

Issa needs to have the Sargeant at Arms handcuff and carry Koskinen to a jail cell for Contempt. He indeed has that power. Keep him and every other one of the obstructors in a jail cell. Again, the House DOES have that power.

Issa needs to lead the house to defund ginormous chunks of the IRS. The House indeed can do that.

With these tools at his disposal, he hasn’t any reason not to take action. Not doing so encourages the “nothing will happen, Issa is all bluff, the GOP is actually complicit” calls.

I know some pols read this board. This is why we want to primary so many incumbents. They don’t do what they can. They lie/pretend.

If that assertion is not correct and Issa/House do not actually have the aforementioned powers, then say so.

But just watching this IRS guy laugh in the faces of law abiding Americans makes us hate ISSA and the non-doers as much as it makes us hate Koskinen.

DO SOMETHING ISSA. DO SOMETHING HOUSE.

The overwrought arrogance is part the Dem game plan to delegitimize the entire investigation. They want to make it a circus. So we get this over the top BS from the IRS guy, Cummings, etc.

If Issa and the House would actually do something in their power to get the information, those calls would reduce. Saying they’ve had hearings and spend 100s of hours on it is like the IRS defending their inaction with “we’ve provided over 100,000 pages of documents.”

As it sits, Issa and the House have some powers they have not utilized. Jail for inherent contempt and defunding are two. But they’re not even talking about them. Why not? They need to be DOING them or explaining to us why they’re not using them.

I would be more on board with the “refrain from defeatism” meme if it seemed to me like they were trying. It seems to me like they’re trying about like the IRS is trying to provide emails.

“The congress has given up their ability to influence the administration by agreeing to the omnibus budget bills.”

The Republican House can go back to individual appropriations bills any time it wishes. Instead it chooses to play by Harry Reid and Barack Obama’s rules.

In a showdown, the one who blinks first is the loser. The House leadership knows it is weak and will blink first so they don’t even try.

If Boehner and his leadership team were real patriots they would pass individual bills, send them to the Senate, and then go to recess. Reid would either refuse to put the bills to a vote or his Democrat majority would vote them down. Reid, Obama and the press would then insist on compromise. The House would stay in recess resulting in a government shutdown. It might take 2 or 3 months but the Senate and Obama would ultimately have to cave and pass the bills. Boehner and the Republicans just don’t have the backbone and courage to wait them out under a blistering media campaign.

The lack of patriotism and fortitude of the Republican House is the reason our government is $17 trillion in debt and we have dictatorship of the executive branch. The founding fathers gave the people’s House control over appropriations. It is unfortunate our founders did not anticipate the people would elect pathetic fools to represent them.
