MOSCOW – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday ordered military forces in central Russia on combat alert as well as a drill of airborne troops, a day after Ukraine ordered a cease-fire with pro-Russian rebels.

[....]

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered his forces to cease fire Friday and halt military operations for a week, the first step in a peace plan he hopes will end the fighting that has killed hundreds. The Kremlin dismissed the plan, saying it sounded like an ultimatum and lacked any firm offer to open talks with insurgents.

“If we want to be isolationists—and I do—then this is all a spectator sport.”

Which is why you deserve no respect for such a viewpoint and attitude.\

And you seem to want to start WWIII over two parts of Ukraine that don’t want to be. If they want to become Russian let them. We got enough problems trying to be the world’s policeman.

And you blind belief that every bit of news coming from the opposing side is simply propaganda and not worthy of reporting disqualifies your viewpoint.

So there...

The isolationists and the pacifists, and I’ll add the liberals, are even more dangerous to us than our enemies. They rot us out from the inside and have us sit as “spectators” as our enemies prepare against us.

The "two parts" nonsense I have refuted against you many times. You have seen the electoral map. You are aware of all the polling. Instead of reading your "Zionist" conspiracy websites and Russian media, how about you read what has been shown to you? The separatists do not enjoy popular support even in the East. That is why more than half of the separatists being killed, and perhaps the majority, are Russian citizens or Chechens imported from other parts of Russia.

I’m a Vet and 10 years younger than you, but I can say with 100% confidence that You Are Correct, Sir.

We. Are. Screwed.

The Russians even tell us themselves that journalism is not separate from "propaganda," and tell us it is a political and military weapon which they use rather enthusiastically against us. They have said this publicly. Anyone who trusts anything from state-controlled Russian media is simply either a fool or uninformed.

Putin is putting on a drill that can be made hot very easily. He is doing this because he knows he can get away with it.

Here we go.

And the fact that we have been provoking Moscow means nothing to you. Is it not obvious that OUR government is trying to start a large scale war? They are not even being coy about it.

I am 53 and my whole life our country has been at war somewhere—save for a few years here and there. I am sick of it. Let Europe deal with Putin. He cannot come sweeping through the Fulda Gap any more. It is not our issue.

Provoking Moscow? Please. Russia simply trots out that excuse every few years when it feels the need to invade and occupy some small country.

From the Kremlin's standpoint, everybody they murder is "provoking" them. For example, all the journalists beaten in subways or murdered in Russia "provoked" the Kremlin by practicing journalism. Similarly, the U.S. provokes Russia by not dismantling NATO, even while the Russians have been modernizing their nukes and military forces for years.

So there is not an ounce of truth to our interest in expanding NATO into Ukraine. There is no truth to the statements that the US supported the violent overthrow of an independent an elected government in Ukraine.

I accept that Putin is a bad guy. But the US has pretty dirty hands here. I would be more interested in the blind anti Putin propaganda if we did not stink up the room. There doesn’t seem to be a place in the world these days where we leave well enough alone.

Dugin reminds me of a line in Joseph Conrad's book HEART OF DARKNESS. It is this one.

"He electrified large meetings. He had faith—don’t you see?—he had the faith. He could get himself to believe anything—anything. He would have been a splendid leader of an extreme party.’ ‘What party?’ I asked. ‘Any party,’ answered the other. ‘He was an—an—extremist.’ Did I not think so? I assented."

In this regard, too, Putin is similar. He was a dedicated KGB man and a communist. Now, he's the ultra nationalist. Milsovic did the same thing. They need power. They're right out of Eric Hoffer's book THE TRUE BELIEVER. Their souls are empty, but they want a mass movement they can lead.
