The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said it can't provide emails sent between 2009 and 2011 that were requested by congressional investigators because of hard drive crashes.
The agency said that emails stored on dead drives were lost forever because its email backup tapes were recycled every six months, and employees were responsible for keeping their own long-term archives.
The IRS had a contract with email backup service vendor Sonasoft starting in 2005, according to FedSpending.org, which lists the contract as being for "automatic data processing services." Sonasoft's motto is "email archiving done right," and the company lists the IRS as a customer.
In 2009, Sonasoft even sent out a Tweet advertising its work for the IRS...

I'd envision IRS negotiations with Sonasoft to include two main requirements: One, ability to preserve critical business content... and, Two, ability to umm.... er... "cleanse" critical business content.

I’m not much of computer tech, but I have been under the impression that with back up service company, anything I delete from my computer will also be deleted in my backup...am I wrong about that?
Ah but wait these emails were not deleted, they were lost in a supposed crash.

No, the whole purpose of having an independent 3rd party provider is to have a daily archiving and preservation of emails which stay in place no matter what is done later.
So if this is accurate, then unless this firm colludes with the IRS, then they’ll be able to get those emails.

More likely they’ll all get nice university jobs with no specific duties and offices they never visit. Liberals protect their own. (If they are convicted they’ll be pardoned in the last half hour of Obama’s presidency. Probably with every black criminal in the system.)
Even IF the contract exists and was in place, they WILL NOT be able to get access to them.

If the IRS or the associated company were some private corp Schmucks accused of even mid level crime wrong doing government agencies including the FBI would have raided them with a SWAT Team. They then would have escorted all persons from the business and taken all computers and records as evidence. The Oops or our computer crashed nonsense would have soon turned into well, well, we have recovered all of your data via forensics as evidence.
Unfortunately you may be right. We can always hope, but in all likelihood they’ll escape prosecution and for some at least, end up hosting their own shows on MSNBC.
Looks like the obama crowds' new motto is ... 'Yes, We Did' ... and maybe Rush is absolutely correct ... obama is beating every American to a pulp and laughing and saying ... 'I dare ya to try and stop me America!' Congress is useless. Taking to the streets is probably useless. Shooting first is useless. Not many options available (imho) but am unwilling to surrender so will continue to try.

If they did destroy them, and I don’t doubt that they did, a lot of people would have had to know about it. Start bearing down on them.
Anyone who does IT and is a bit older (ahem!) remembers how the old drives would have catastrophic head crashes, but even then there would be at least a few sectors retrievable. Those problems had pretty much disappeared by 2000, so unless Lerner took her hard drive on her off roading and bungee jumping trips, the idea that nothing was recoverable is a laugh.
That’s before we even get to the question of server backups, which must still be scattered throughout the system. Email isn’t that data intensive (unless you are downloading porn videos). Then you have six more crashes?

I looked up Chelsea’s speeches. She was paid $26,000/hour to talk on TV. I was astonished at how unpolished and amateur she was. It was painful to listen to. (Of course, what she said turned my stomach too, so that might be part of my reaction.)
It reminds me (from just one aspect) of an interview with Sigourney Weaver. Now, Weaver really does have talent and looks. The interviewer asked if the fact that her father was the president of CBS had anything to do with her getting her first big break in the movies. She snapped, “Absolutely not. It was pure talent, looks and hard work that won me that.” I’m sure she believes that. It always strikes me when somebody like Chelsea, who has nothing going for her beyond genetics gets the break of a lifetime.
Payola is payola. Just like books of her parents, the money has nothing to do with the product and everything to do with media conglomerate payoff routes.
