ISIS and an Open Border: A Perfect Storm
American Thinker ^ | 6/18/2014 | Brian C. Joondeph

As the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) marches through Iraq, leaving slaughter and mass graves in its wake, the obvious concern is the eventual creation of a terrorist state in the Middle East. Far across the world on the U.S. southern border, children from Central America are streaming north, at the tacit invitation of our president. Are these unrelated examples of a feckless foreign policy emanating from the White House? Or are these two disparate events are actually related and dangerous to America’s security?

Reported in the British media, it’s not only children crossing our border, but also gang members, including members of MS-13, one of the world’s most violent and dangerous gangs. Why aren’t we hearing more about this? Seems the White House doesn’t want this in the news. “Border Patrol agents are being told not to talk to reporters,” according to the Daily Mail, with the threat of criminal charges against talkative agents. Vice-President Joe Biden however is happy to talk and is pleased with our porous border, calling, “For a constant, unrelenting stream of new immigrants.”

So how does ISIS play into this? When the current leader of ISIS was released from a U.S. detention camp in Iraq in 2009, his parting words to his captors were, “See you in New York.” Were his words a joke, as the Daily Beast reports? Or a reference to a 9-11 sequel? A clue might lie in Iran’s celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution where “Death to America” was one of the more popular rally slogans.

All going according to president Jarrett’s plan.

I’ve noticed that everything in politics is a reaction to something else. Usually, it’s a direct opposition to something. The World Trade Center is destroyed, we go to war. Somebody attempts to shoe bomb a plane, we all have to take our shoes off before entering. Republicans run the country for awhile, people get disaffected, then we flop back to Democrats. Democrats run the country, people get disaffected and we flop back to Republicans. But this time the president’s invitation to bring us your young, your sick yearning for free medical care, your criminals, may actually result in a permanent (for any given value of “permanent”) militarized border.

Although pollster’s lament Obama’s poor polling I’m astonished that 37% or so see him as doing a good job. What shade of colored glasses must you wear to see that image?

Nothing this criminal administration does is unintentional.

Ten years ago I thought a dirty bomb coming across the southern border was a likelihood. I actually think the developments in Iraq make this less likely. First, they know they don't have to worry about us doing anything. Second, they are very close to achieving the new caliphate, and a sudden incitement of America might force out Zero and put a patriot in charge.

In short, these guys are pretty clever. I can't see them upsetting their apple cart when they are so close to achieving their goals.

Once Republicans have been totally demonized, anything they say is interpreted by the Rats as politically motivated and hateful. That is our quandary. Nothing we say--or indeed, nothing that happens--is taken seriously. It is all shoved instantly into the "racist" box.

From a 2007 thread.

1.“In Detroit, Mahmoud Youssef Kourani was indicted in the Eastern District of Michigan on one count of conspiracy to provide material support to Hezbollah. Kourani was already in custody for entering the country illegally through Mexico and was involved in fund raising activities on behalf of Hezbollah.”

2. “...the capture of terrorist suspect Jose Padilla. The Justice Department says Padilla and an accomplice planned to enter the United States through Mexico to blow up apartment buildings in major cities such as New York.”

3. “Or the case of suspected al-Qaida sleeper agent Mohammed Junaid Babar, who told investigators of a scheme to smuggle terrorists across the Mexican border. He is tied to a terror plot to carry out bombings and assassinations in London.”

4. “Intelligence reports suggesting that 25 Chechen terrorism suspects have illegally entered the United States from Mexico have refocused attention on a porous border from which many believe the next major attack on Americans could come.”

5. “Also last July, an Egyptian man United States authorities described as one of their most wanted smugglers of humans was arrested on charges of operating a ring that illegally brought people from Egypt and other Middle Eastern countries to the United States. The indictment says Abdallah and his associates would direct people seeking to reach the United States to travel to one of several Latin American countries, and from there to Guatemala. They would then be transported to America through Mexico in return for payments of thousands of dollars in smuggling fees.”

See post #7.

That’s what’s crazy, everybody knows a disaster is looming over our heads and has been all along but nothing happens.

We are always playing defense. The threat will only be obvious once something happens, not before.

Like I say, I think right now this would be the stupidest strategic move they could make. It would be not much different than when Japan was literally taking over all of Asia without opposition then they stupidly decided to attack us---when 70% of Americans wanted to stay out of WW II. Without Pearl Harbor, I think Japan would have a) gotten all of Indonesia; b) invaded northern Australia; and c) made it to India without much opposition.

A big attack here, linked to the southern border, would probably galvanize Americas 10X worse than 9/11 and might mean the end of the Dem party for a decade.

All going according to president Jarrett’s plan.

Point taken, but she's only one of about five or six people on the Politburo. I don't even know who's on it (by careful opsec arrangements in the White Hut).

Your larger point that this is all intelligently malicious and perverse, is well taken.

>>>A big attack here, linked to the southern border, would probably galvanize Americas 10X worse than 9/11 and might mean the end of the Dem party for a decade.<<<<

I used to think the same thing about another “big attack.” But I know think that the impulse to respond, and to respond with force, will be successfully muted and eventually quashed.

The few days after 9/11, there was a feeling in everyone I talked with that there was a need for an immediate response, and there was a feeling of camaraderie and patriotism. Those feelings were replaced after a while with accusations of “Islamophobia” and the curious media blackout of the World Trade Center damage - after all, showing the images of people leaping to their deaths out of the upper stories might revive patriotic feelings and a sense of national community. When the inevitable war took off, many tried to undermine it.

No, I wouldn’t be surprised if an attack from the southern border led to our elites telling us not to be so judgmental about Hispanic people, and phony stories about hate crimes against illegal immigrants.

Eventually, of course, these kinds of political maneuvers take on a life of their own and get out of the control of its handlers, so who knows what will happen several decades out. I can easily see attempted politicide by those in power against “the extremists,” who would be us, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see liberals suddenly facing an American Pinochet, either. Who knows? All I can safely predict is that it won’t be pretty.

God help us.
