And so, as the bloodied heads roll in the streets of Iraq, we dare not stick our heads in the sand here in the West.

The problem hasn't been so much of heads stuck in the sand; it's heads stuck up Obuttwipe's rectum.

Say what you will, but this didn't happen on his watch.

Heads Are Literally Rolling In Iraq

A correct use of the word "literally." Somebody tell Sean Hannity.

moozlums killing moozlums? Kind of like the trash taking out the trash. Plus it saves on ammo.

OK I will say something

what happened on his watch was one of the world's worst continuing genocides against selected groups and any political opponent, with no end in sight.

Saddam the devil we knew was not the long term solution to preventing widespread destructive anti-western islamic fundamentalism, the devil we didn't know (at least, until it reached us on 9-11)

No one in their right mind misses Saddam Hussein, whose son Uday’s secret terror squads were beheading women snatched from their families in the night by a knock on the door, and seizing and raping their young daughters, and shredding alive their sons and husbands, to terrorize any political opposition

What the people of Iraq miss is social and civil order, without the predations of a madman and his inner cabal to administer it

George Bush and his advisers made a calculated risk that of all the Arab nations (aside from Egypt) the one most likely to set and example of rising out of a stark choice between despotism of the military dictator or despotism of the mullah, was Iraq

The calculation was that Iraq could achieve and sustain an enlightened nationhood if, and only if, given a chance- requiring the removal of Saddam and his heirs, and starting again. Iraq had the resources to build an independent economy. Iraq had the educated classes to build a military and civil service

This time not under a post WW1 British style colonial-installed administration, but using a collaboration of Iraqis and leading Western political theorists, using adapted western political democratic organization, ergo a “Constitution”, a “Prime Minister”, a “Parliament”, and political parties

and Iraq could develop and stabilize if root-cause poverty and discontent and hopelessness was addressed, by rebuilding infrastructure to benefit all Iraqis (water, sewer, medical, education, telecommunications, western-trained military officers, oil industry)

“was”

Bashir Assad is about the last of the hereditary colonial-installed despotic leadership clans, but admittedly, he is looking better and better compared to the ISIS alternative

Well now we know why there's been such a push to get the US tied up in Ukraine when the EU should handle it and the US should have never backed the coup in the first place.

Something Muzzies had planned in a place actually important to the US was in the works.
