Cruz Blasts Obama Admin Over Texas Border Crisis
Breitbart ^ | 12 Jun 2014 | Bob Price

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary over the ever growing number of unaccompanied children flooding into South Texas as a result of Obama’s immigration policies. DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee at the Capitol Wednesday morning.

Sen. Cruz laid out the enormity of the problem to Secretary Johnson by stating, “In 2011, there were roughly 7,000 unaccompanied minors who were apprehended. In 2012, that number rose to 14,000. In 2013, it rose to 24,000.”

In a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas, Cruz expounded, “In 2014, your agency is estimating it is going to be as high as 90,000. In 2015, the administration is estimating that it will rise all the way to 145,000.”

Cruz continued by blaming the crisis of these children and their deplorable circumstances directly on President Obama’s immigration policies. “Mr. Secretary, you testified to this committee the increase is a result of violence in Central America and there is surely violence in Central America, but if you look at the statistics…midway through 2012, was when Administration unilaterally granted amnesty to some 800,000 people who had been minors, with the so-called DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] proceeding.”

“And,” he continued, “you can see sometime after that the numbers spike dramatically. Is it really your testimony that granting amnesty to some 800,000 people who came here illegally as children had no effect in causing a dramatic increase of children being handed over to international drug cartels to be smuggled in here illegally?”

Cruz told Johnson, it is important to look at what these numbers represent. "These numbers represent children," Cruz firmly stated. "Little boys and little girls that their parents are handing over, not to some noble social workers who are trying to help them, they're handing over to international

Why can’t Gov’s Goodhair and Brewer call out their National Guards?

Someone else on FR mentioned this, too. I was watching the wave of minors crossing the border last night on Telemundo. They were wearing clean clothes, looked none the worse for wear. I am guessing they travelled by bus to the border.

They sure didn't walk or ride the rails from Central America, across Mexico to get to Texas.

Agreed.

Have the States National Guards CLOSE AND SEAL their State’s Southern Borders.

Refuse entry to all children from the Mexico side of the Border.

I think that Megan blew it last night. She kept on cooing about the toddlers. The toddlers were with their adult mothers, Megan, and they did not look like they had been denying themselves any meals lately. Why not blame the mothers who are moochers and law breakers, instead of trying to gin up our compassion for the “children.”

Most of the children were 15-17 years old. Old enough to be forced to be part of the link for drug cartels in our country who are happy to have minors do their dirty work, promising them that their under-age status will not get them the criminal repercussions they would if they were older and in the country legally.

Great way to make a living for them. No taxes, no SS needed and they can send money and instructions back home on how to repeat the process.

It’s stinking offensive.

For all of the talk of the power of the POTUS, the Constiution is very clear in terms of who has war powers.

They are 'given' to the Congress, and/the States.

A State has every right to use force to protect their citizens, the fact they don't is part of the problem in government we face today. They are complicit in the takeover.

Yes, most of these poor, sweet, innocent *children* are closer to 17 years old....

....old enough to vote (for more FreeStuff™) in 2016.

It’s how 0&Co is turning TX, AZ and OK blue.

Perry and Brewer are both RINO’s, that’s why they won’t call out the Guard in their respective states.

I agree but pose this question:

WHay the heck do these governors of these border states not calling up the National Guard in vast numbers? Turn them back at the border, do not let them in!

Come to think of it, should the governor of Texas call out the national guard, on “humanitarian reasons”, to form a “second border” specifically for juveniles?

That way, any of these kids they catch the *state* can hold on to as “runaways”, which it cannot release because they are minors. And if they are identified as being from a particular country, Texas can offer to fly planeloads of them home *to the government of their country*, in batches of about 250 each, on a chartered 757 (which is a lot cheaper than keeping them.)

If the government of that country refuses to take them back, then Texas can request that that country provide documentation for each and every one of them before release to a legal parent or guardian.

The bottom line is that while Texas cannot stop the flood, they can slow it down until their is a Republican POTUS, who will not be such a jackass.

I don't know how these parents can do this. How do you turn your child over to "coyotes" (drug cartels) to travel thousands of miles alone to a foreign country, that doesn't even speak the same language you do, and expect that foreign land to feed, clothe, and meet your child's needs, assuming he/she arrives safely in the first place?

What were these parents told, and who told them?

As others have said, it does seem to be orchastrated. If we find out our government did this, the American people need to be fully informed of it, and then it needs to placed directly on the democrats to deal with this treason in their party.

At the very least it shows clearly that the politicians have no regard whatsoever for our citizens.

When the pols are blathering on about how we have too much and they're going to take it ftom us and redistribute our wealth (excluding themselves of course), they mean it.

Thank you to senator Cruz for calling attention to this.

The parents can send them here because of a lack of our moral convictions. That’s why we don’t need this trash here.
