Sure, let’s withhold our judgment until we review all of the “evadence.” Like the rest of the letters he wrote, not just these two.
Holy crap. Obviously a product of gummint schools.
Sounds like he wuz edukated in a libiral run publik skool
he splet cittuwation rong. Evryboy nos it spelt sichuwation.
Seriously? He parents must be brainiacs.
“Leadership was lacking, if not non-existent. The conditions were bad and looked to be getting worse for the men that where actuly (sic) the ones risking thier (sic) lives from attack,
Boy, I bet half the grunts who ever served thought the conditions were bad and some of the officers were idiots. (and they were probably right) but that doesn’t give leave to just take off and go over tot he enemy. This dude should be in jail for a long time turning big rocks into little rocks. If he was really collaborating then.....well, we know what the penalty is for that.
Not sure how these letters can amount to anything significant from any perspective.

Of course you can’t court martial a guy who was in a unit as bad as Bergdahl claim’s his was. /s
Do we even believe he wrote this? Just wondering...
Bergdahl planed his desertion and defection.
Bergdahl mailed home his possessions, sneaked out during the night, and sought the enemy to join them.
He is a defector.
If you are a fluent speaker of ‘bullsh*t’ maybe that’s how you spell evadence.
Regardless of the letters, I’m confident a court-martial could be properly conducted.
But the motives behind the letters written while in “captivity” are seemingly dependent on the determined preceding motives that landed Bengdahl in “captivity.” I would think...
Of course, the regime will try to use any balloon that can hold its weight for more than a couple of days.
Excuses. Desertion is desertion.
Even if that’s all true, Bergdahl just admitted to going AWOL. He may be able to duck the desertion charge by claiming that he intended to return to post (but got captured). Walking off the post is still a violation of regulations.
Odd that he would misspell those particular words when other ones which can be harder to spell were correct. So were these written under duress by order of his “captors” with the errors a red flag to his parents about his situation? This is not a guy lacking in intelligence and I’m pretty sure his homeschooling would have covered spelling so the mistakes just stand out to me.
There is no excuse for what he did.
I totally agree there could be a court martial. The letters, IMO, prove nothing except he was trying to cover his ass and make excuses as to why he deserted.
