Oh, it’s just starting.

“Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.”

Our Caesar let slip 5 dogs of war and sent the signal to ignite the havoc.

Actually, Shakespeare said it better in “Julius Caesar”:

ANTONY:
Blood and destruction shall be so in use
And dreadful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quarter’d with the hands of war;
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry ‘Havoc,’ and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.

And that, my dear Freepers, was written over 400 years ago. Not much changes.

I’m sure he assisted with more than just our tax dollars

Some brilliant socialists in our administration including our great leader, a (m)uslim sympathizer, if not a full fledged closet (m)uslim himself thought we were all done there and terrorism has been eliminated and is a thing of the past. Well think again as there will be no peace until that “Great Religion of Peace” ceases to exist and that will be a while, as so far no one has come up with a cure for ignorance.

In 2003, The democrats warned us Iraq would be another Vietnam. They have worked tirelessly since to make it so.

They are succeeding.

Isn't this the same Al Qaeda that attacked us numerous times up to, including, and after 911. So why aren't we trying to destroy them?

Rhetorical question, of course.

We haven’t won a war since WWII because of our habit of fighting to a standstill and then negotiating.

Watching the BBC news this morning and it appears that much of the Iraqi government is fleeing. They were due to hold a vote on the situation and ask for American drone strikes but not enough of them showed up to hold the vote.

That’s OK. That moron who preceded him didn’t know, either. Otherwise, Iraq wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place.

“Giving” freedom just doesn’t work. Freedom must be won or it becomes a concept without value.

They will have a harder time the further south they go. I suspect a lot of the officers and troops that just gave up in the Iraqi security forces in Mosul were Sunni. That’s not going to happen in the Shiite dominated south. However, we should provide some air strikes with drones or planes.

That said, even if the Iraqi government puts this down, it does not go away. The Sunnis and Shias have to figure out a way to live together. Perhaps, give the Sunni the same deal the Kurds have up north. A semi autonomous region. The sad thing about this is, that the one group of people who value their freedom the most and have worked to protect it (the Kurds) could be hurt the most by a breakup of Iraq. Methinks if that happened that Turkey would come down and swallow the Kurds up whole and there would be a lot of bloodshed there.

Look for this to be replayed approximately two years after we get out of Afghanistan.... rinse, wash, repeat....

"Yup. These guys are the same people fighting Assad in Syria."

Obozo wants to support them in Syria against Assaad and opposes stopping them in Iraq (strong letter of comdemnation to follow). Do we see a pattern here???

CBS news this AM reported that we’re going to give more weapons more weapons to fight ISIS. How dumb is that? The soldiers are leaving their weapons behind, leaving them for ISIS.

The Iraqis apparently don’t have it in them to fight back. From what I’m seeing on the news, some 30,000 Iraqi troops dropped their weapons and ran from 800 ISIS fighters.

Pretty smart if your real goal is to arm ISIS.

In many parts of the world, "freedom" is an abstraction that doesn't mean anything because it usually means "freedom to have your way and suppress others who disagree with you."

Sounds a lot like the U.S. these days, doesn't it?

The Taliban will Najeebullah President Karzai about six months after USA goes wheels up Kabul. One reason why Karzai ordered a street improvement program in Kabul is so his final ride will be smoother when the Taliban drag him through the streets...
