This idea of multiple opponents even when 50 percent plus one is required needs to be re-thought.

Here's the rub. BOTH US Senate seats are up for election this year in South Carolina. Tim Scott has only one primary challenger while Linda Graham has six. What does that tell you?

I wish that someone had talked Jim DeMint into challenging Graham. Then with DeMint and Scott, we would have a totally TEA SC.

That is what that > is supposed to represent.
Apparently AP has called it.

Britt Hume said you’d be hard pressed to ever hear the term amnesty coming from Cantor, as he was totally against it as are all members of the GOP and it was because his opponent painted it as amnesty that he lost. Some in the establishment are looking for sensible immigration reform but that does not, nor did it ever consist of amnesty, says Hume. He has a point because there’s never been any question where Graham stands on immigration and yet he pulled it out tonight.

I hate it when they do that with not even two-thirds of the vote in!

And no early voting. If you are so busy that you can’t take 30 minutes to vote, then you don’t know the issues. Unless you are in the military or fire or police (early voting), but no body else.

So multiple opponents can work well during a primary.

But Ted Cruz received key endorsements and was able to stand out from the crowd. That victory had more to do with the quality of the candidate than anything else.

We don't get that in but a fairly small minority of the races, and with four or five candidates, none of whom are well known, the incumbent or well known favorite has a bit advantage.

Who is the conservative? ME-2 is the ruralist of New England’s CDs. I think Bangor is the big city in it.

Palmettos aren’t too “bright” as Lee Bright found tonight.

The re-nomination of McCain’s SC lackey negates the good news out of VA. Cochran may be smiling again, but maybe McDaniel can still win.

Poliquin is the conservative. And he’s ahead by a wide margin.

Cantor lost because his constituents are highly informed and highly conservative.

Graham is winning because statewide there are a lot of moderates and dem-leaning voters with a bias towards incumbency.

In other words, the answer is in the demographics.

But one sign is clear, with just a little over half the precincts reporting Graham pulls in only 59% and the final figure will be lower. That is not something to be proud of for an incumbent. He should be running away with the primary with well over 70%.

I have lived here in SC all my life, and have never had so much disgust for the voters in all my life. My political days are over. As Hitlery would say, “What difference does it make”. The US is screwed.

When you give up, the liberals have won.
No one gets to win all the time in politics.
Have to keep fighting.

Here’s what I don’t understand: I’m thrilled that the amnesty pushing illegal loving RINO Cantor has lost. HOWEVER, in South Carolina, an even BIGGER amnesty pusher and Obama butt buddy Miss Lindsay Gayham has won re-election with over a majority of the vote. I don’t understand. Yes, Graham outspent his opponents massively, but so did Cantor. Not to offend any South Carolinian Freepers but...are Virginians simply smarter?
