Bergdahl platoon medic says captured soldier deserted his post, 'not a hero'

A member of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s platoon in Afghanistan said Sunday the former Taliban prisoner deserted his post before being captured and fired back against Obama administration arguments that only Bergdahl knows exactly what happened.

“After Bowe Bergdahl purposely and willfully walked away, every single mission was titled toward finding him,” platoon medic Joshua Cornelison told “Fox News Sunday.” “We were there. This isn’t some second- or third-hand account.”

Cornelison’s comments come several days after a State Department spokeswoman told Fox News that Bergdahl is “probably the person who knows best what happened on that night” and dismissed published accounts from platoon mates about the events surrounding Bergdahl’s June 5, 2009, disappearance and capture.

I’d venture a guess it’s all of the above.

0bama stepped in it big time and they know, the big lie seems to be they had to do it without notifying Congress because of the urgency of Bergdahl’s health.

One thing that occurred to me is...could these various platoon mates who've come out publicly be subject to discipline under the UCMJ? I know it depends on their current status but if,for example,they've been transferred to the Individual Reserves could they be activated and punished?

I honestly don’t know but now that Bergdahl is in our hands I believe there’d be much egg on the face of anyone trying to discipline these soldiers.

Bergdahl’s unit sent out a patrol to look for him when they realized he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. Members of this unit stated on The Kelly Files that they hadn’t gone more than ten feet when two young Afghan boys told them that they had seen an American crawling through the weeds. Now, a guy out for a nature walk isn’t crawling through the weeds. A mentally unfit person wandering around isn’t crawling through the weeds. A guy trying to escape detection by the American guards HE KNOWS ARE THERE crawls through the weeds. Bergdahl was deserting.

I have trouble attaching to someone with a sound mind a motive to escape the protection of the US military in the middle of an Afghanistan war zone. Desertion sounds like a pretty crazy idea to me. I'm betting on some serious mental problems in this case.

For 5 years? Which means they were waiting for something big to happen so they could use this as a new front page story.

We need to ignore this, let the military do their thing and get back to Obamacare, the VA and IRS scandals. Because after this there will be another and another scandal which will keep America preoccupied while EPA regs are implemented and illegals gain access to our crucial resources.

Do you really think that Osama Obama cares about "egg"? His face has been coated with dried rat droppings since he entered the Illinois Senate and it clearly doesn't bother him at all.IMO any ambitious Colonel or General would be helping his career enormously by coming down on these guys like a ton of bricks.
