GOP: Water rule is murky. EPA is urged to make revisions

Members of the Small Business Committee in the House of Representatives urged the Environmental Protection Agency to go back to the drawing board on a proposed rule aimed at clarifying bodies of water that fall under the Clean Water Act.

In March, the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposed a rule to define what “waters of the United States” fall under federal jurisdiction. The rule would include smaller bodies of water including streams, riverbanks, wetlands and floodplains that may have access to larger bodies of water.

Republican lawmakers have opposed the rule since its inception, saying the EPA down-played the regulatory and economic impact on small businesses and was too broad defining what waters could be regulated.

Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, told the committee the proposed rule is “the greatest water grab that we have seen by the federal government in the United States.”

Notice that sneaky little word "MAY" in there. That's the open door.

Just more control.

I you have a 3 acre lake on your property and it is fed by a small stream dry/or not that is located in a watershed area....guess what?

You’re a fed target.

If it rains in your yard or a seasonal stream from snow melt goes across your property, then the EPA Feds will own it.

A ditch running in front of your property “may” be included.

Already happening.

EPA targets couple’s private pond in Wyoming, threatens huge fines... $75,000-a-day fine.

The effing Feds will never be happy until every last one of us is transmogrified into a groveling serf.

We need more lamp posts and more rope.

We also need some brave souls to give the finger to the feds over the use of their private property, and dare them to enforce their tyranny,

then have about 1500 militia members show up to express “disapproval” when the feds show up.

It’s been done once, needs to happen all across the country.

Swails run through the backyards of most homes. In theory the feds could inspect these ditches whenever they want.

“Excuse me sir, but while I was inspecting your backyard I noticed several other “discrepancies” within your property and home. We need to expand the inspection of your premises. Accordingly, all residents must depart the property immediately so as to facilitate our efforts to protect the environment and ensure that you are in full compliance with existing regulations. We are here to serve you.”

I strongly suspect that conservatives are going to be inspected a lot more than liberals.

It has taken 40 years of slowly creeping mandates, but the EPA was a fantastic way to allow the fedgov to control all commerce without requiring legislative action.

We have sufficient quantities of both. We lack only the will to employ them correctly.

The EPA is and has been out of control. What they don't have their corrupt hands into, the enviro-nazi crowd want to get them involved in to further their own pathetic causes.

I read below article yesterday, it is not precisely about the EPA but shows how the enviros want them involved in matters they have nothing to do with. It addresses the controversy over Bisphenol-A (BPA) which has been going on for many years.

Glad you finally got a day off my friend and am most sorry I partially ruined it for you. :-)

The worst thing about the article is under the 0bama administration it’s very possible the EPA will get the case and we already know what will happen if they do.

Before 2016 gets here we are going to see lots of federal control over our lives tightened, even if it takes executive order to do it.
