Its been more than two months since Dr. Ben Carson first said that America is very much like Nazi Germany, and hes still having trouble clarifying exactly what it is he meant. During an appearance on CNNs Crossfire Wednesday, host Stephanie Cutter brought up the remark and asked Carson to explain it for her.
To me, it doesnt sound like a complex statement at all, Carson said, before reiterating his original comments. People in Nazi Germany, most of them did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But, instead of protesting, instead of registering their displeasure, they simply decided to go along to get along. That is a very dangerous thing to do.
He said was simply making a point to the American people that if, in fact, you feel differently about whats going on, you should not be shut up.

Carsons ideologically opposed counterpart, former governor Ted Strickland (D-OH) shot back, No is being shut up in America! As an example, he pointed to Carson himself, who has the freedom to say whatever he wants in his role as a contributor on Fox News.
Strickland saw a contradiction in the fact that Carson could compare the United States to Nazi Germany and also write a book titled America the Beautiful.
Did you read the book? Carson asked. When Strickland said he hadnt, the doctor replied, I rest my case.

I think that maybe he could have used a different analogy. If he needed one to compare America with some other ideology.
Dr. Ben Carson is way too smart for all of them put together.
His statements stand, clearly.
if you can’t say you think America is like Nazi Germany, then its Nazi germany.
Why?
All they (the left and right) has done is translate the nazi instruction/play book into English!
Word for word!
Gun Control

Need I go on?
My wife's family (Germans) escaped Germany before the U.S. entered WW2. They were one of a few wealthy families in Germany that tried standing up to Hitler. As a result they lost everything. My wife's great-grandfater was conscripted into the Hitler SS in the middle of the night. The rest of the family escaped Germany to Hungary, and then fled Hungary as the Nazi's entered the country.
The point is: what Ben Carson's saying is exactly right. I've heard the stories from my in-laws many times.
The same in-laws that I've had for 28 married years (and knew for 6 years prior) ALL SAY TO A PERSON that America is becoming just like Nazi Germany with the loss of our rights, attacks on free-speech and those who disagree with the current administration.
They shake their heads saying it's so clear for them to see it and they wonder why we allow this to happen to our country.
and he is correct.... we are indeed walking down that path
why it is a perfectly good analogy or have you forgotten your history?
His analogy was a good one. Actually, a more accurate comparison to the U.S. might be Germany under the Weimar Republic in the 1920s. National Socialism was the natural next step, and we’re well on our way there.
People in Nazi Germany, most of them did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But, instead of protesting, instead of registering their displeasure, they simply decided to go along to get along. That is a very dangerous thing to do.
Brilliant line...if I’m reading it right. When you have a fascist government, you MUST revolt, or things will get ugly, in a hurry.
Yeah, that’s better.
I’m thinking more of the Weimer Republic. But then Nazi Germany came along after. It’s almost like saying Nazi troops when Nazi is a political party. Remember what happened to Patton when he compared the Nazi party to political parties in the US.
“if you cant say you think America is like Nazi Germany, then its Nazi Germany”
I quite agree. The way any conservative like Dr. Carson is savaged is clearly reminiscent of Germany in the early 1930s. There aren’t any concentration camps but give the progressives time. Next month or next year?
You apparently think that Weimar was somehow not responsible for the rise of Hitler.
The propaganda used by the Nazi's is terrifyingly similar to what we get daily from the liberals, left, Democrats and their foot soldiers in the press, education, entertainment, special interests, unions.
Its not brain surgery.
I am concerned about his anti gun comments though

Aw geeze ...
I don’t think he’s anti-gun in the sense that he’d ever let anything happen to the 2nd Amendment. I think as a doctor, he does deplore needless violence.
