Feds rile ranchers by fencing off water for cattle — to protect a jumping mouse!

Forest Service says it's mouse habitat

The Obama administration’s crackdown on Western land use has sparked a furor over the Forest Service’s decision to fence off a creek used by thirsty cattle in drought-stricken Otero County, New Mexico.

The Otero County Commission is scheduled to meet Monday to discuss whether to order the sheriff to open the gates against the wishes of Forest Service officials, who have argued that the fence is needed to protect the Agua Chiquita riparian area and habitat for the New Mexico meadow jumping mouse.

Otero County Sheriff Benny House said he worries that the increasingly tense situation could erupt into a Nevada-style melee between ranchers and federal agents.

“What’s going to happen here is that we could end up with a Bundy situation,” said Sheriff House, referring to Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the Bureau of Land Management. “Hopefully, we can resolve it without it getting out of hand.”

In another display of unrest in the West over federal land policy, about 50 people drove all-terrain vehicles Saturday into Recapture Canyon in southern Utah, an area managed by the Bureau of Land Management that is off limits to motorized vehicles. Hundreds more attended a protest at a nearby park.

Juan Palma, Bureau of Land Management Utah state director, said in a statement that the agency would “pursue all available redress through the legal system to hold the lawbreakers accountable.”

He said the area is the site of ancient Indian archaeological artifacts and dwellings.

Although Bundy ranch comparisons are inevitable, one key distinction is that the Otero County ranchers, unlike Mr. Bundy, haven’t broken any laws. They own the rights to the water under New Mexico law, but the creek is within the federally owned forest.

What difference does it make if shutting down his livelihood forces the unwanted human resident off the land?

It seems as if the FedGov has become the sheep ranchers of yesteryear.....If memory serves, that ended in a ranch war.

There are NO MICE in need of Gov’t protection.

This particular mouse is NOT UNIQUE, as was the case of the fabled Preble’s mouse. It was INVENTED for the purpose of stopping development.

One must remember that “the court system” is simply a branch of government and - like a branch on a tree - will never do anything to endanger the life of the tree. Any such action would be tantamount to suicide.
That is the reason it will be up to the citizens to rein in the government. Think of it as “pruning” a lop-sided sapling to shape it into a beautiful Christmans tree.

Yep, a favorite tactic of the enviro-nazis.

Once the people realize that the State doesn’t have the monopoly on violence, things get messy.

I wonder of the BLM has thought this through. I wonder if the militias and ranchers have.

No one wins in a failed state.

Those range wars never stopped.
Remember the fights about people collecting rain water on their property? It wasn’t the BLM screaming, it was the ranchers. People end up dead over water rights often enough out West.

Water is for killing, whisky is for drinking. Until you have seen it, it is hard to describe it. That is part of the reason I don’t like this trend. If the ranchers win, you will see groups going back to the old ways of “burning out” as many of the other people as they can.

It's the argument that was made for Bundy. Why sacrifice the cow to save the turtle? How did the turtle become more valuable than the cow?

And how is it that the two were able to peacefully coexist until now?

We would like to thank those who participated in the Occupy movement for showing us the way to reclaim our public lands.

The city folks are no longer going to be allowed to make the rules that dictate what happens in and about our homes and our country culture. That is done.

There are some struggles yet to come but most of us have already made this decision.

The socialists from the big cities act like they have the answers. They tell us that the society and culture that they have made for themselves is something that we are supposed to value. This is a joke, and a bad joke at that.

No, we do not value the racism, the hunger and poverty and violence of the inner cities. We openly reject the oppressing federal and state laws that have been passed to try and clean up the mess that the liberals have created.

If you want to find a huge disaster that is doing great harm to Americans look to the nearest city that has been ruled by the liberals over the last few decades.

Each and every one of these places are on the brink of bankruptcy with high violent crime and homicide rates. It is all theirs. We don't want it, don't value it, and do not value the liberal mentality that made life that way in their cities.

We will not take any responsibility for the city culture of death and destruction that they created and choose to live in. It is yours, your fault, and now your bed to lay in.

To the liberal socialists I will bluntly tell you that we will not allow you to make that same mess in our back yard that you have made in yours.

We will not allow you to install your culture here either. We are good with our own culture, our ways, and our own values. I know of no place within a hundred miles where I can not walk with my family is safety. I will keep the culture I have and the cities can have theirs.

Liberals need to remember one thing. Without the liberals telling us what to do, where we can and can't be, how to live, and how to think, we will still have water, food, fuel, and electrical power.

Without the red areas of this country the liberals will not have......

Just a little food for thought.

So why does the mouse have more rights than the cow?

Cause some animals are more equal than others. /s

Yeah, we’ve pretty much seen that come to complete fruition in the past few decades.

Gov’t no longer exists to maintain an environment where people can safely conduct their lives, rather

under the guise of fairness, its primary function now is to protect itself and grow.
