WH: 'Retrofitting Buildings...Is One Way to Create Jobs'

(CNSNews.com) - As job growth lags in the sluggish economic recovery, the Obama White House is pointing to climate change policies as a fix:

Efforts to reduce carbon pollution, far from costing jobs, will create them, a White House spokesman told reporters on Wednesday:

"Retrofitting buildings and modernizing them is one way to create jobs," Josh Earnest said. "It saves companies money in terms of their energy costs, but it also creates jobs in terms of people who are installing updated lighting, modern heating and cooling systems, and other things that make buildings more efficient."

Earnest noted that President Obama has boosted efficiency standards for the manufacture of appliances and vehicles. "All of that saves consumers money in terms of energy costs, but it also creates good manufacturing jobs here in this country," he said.

President Obama on Friday will talk about making buildings more energy efficient as one way of reducing carbon pollution.

"This is a leading trend that we're going to see all across the world that other countries and other markets are going to turn to more energy-efficient products to try to deal with carbon pollution," Earnest said.

Apparently the WH does not understand that retrofitting almost always does not really create wealth as much as simply transfer it from elsewhere.

Maybe they should break a few windows in the buildings first and make even more jobs...

Might as well just do what the Chicoms do. Just start building so much that we have entire cities out there with nobody living in them.

Would that be all those buildings I see with the “for lease” signs on them because the Democrat economy won’t support our entreprenuers?

Who’s going to buy these buildings? The businesses that are already reeling from the hit of Obamacare and the threatened minimum wage, not to mention the terrible economy?

I wish there was an adult in charge somewhere in this government.

Obama and his Democrats are beyond stupid.
They're psychotic.

This isn’t quite Bastiat’s “broken windows” argument, but close.

Another way to create jobs is to borrow money, then pay people to dig holes, and then pay other people to fill them back up.

If this is such a good idea — why wasn’t it part of Porkulus?

Decaying infrastructure has been a problem since before the turn of the century.

I want to retrofit the White House by removing the incompetent, arrogant, untrustworthy pile of Kenyan dog squeeze and replacing him with an actual American that believes that the constitution was written and designed by men that understood that the strength of the country lies within it’s citizens, not it’s political contributors.

“Earnest noted that President Obama has boosted efficiency standards for the manufacture of appliances and vehicles. “All of that saves consumers money in terms of energy costs, but it also creates good manufacturing jobs here in this country,” he said. “

The energy savings never approach the increased cost of the product.

And where is this money for retrofitting going to come from? Forced upgrades by the government? Now that the Supreme Ct has said it is OK for the government to require citizens to purchase things for our own good, this will be done like 0bama care.

Just make those rich business and property owners spend money for their own good, after-all, profits are a bad thing./s

Is this a fancy way of saying that Obama has and is “moving forward” with his “Fundamental Transform” to increase his Regulation Strangulation on us while increasing our taxes to pay for something that we do not want done in the first place?

These guys are beyond idiots. Retrofitting is expensive, rarely does the energy savings pay back in any kind of reasonable time. They don’t figure the job cuts, or lack of hiring, that will result from having to plug money into something that doesn’t expand production and has low return.

Apparently the WH does not understand that retrofitting almost always does not really create wealth as much as simply transfer it from elsewhere.

I think that the 'WH' understands that completely.

It transfers the wealth from those who are forced to buy it, to those who sell it.

instead of being all anal about energy use, why don’t the greenies all voluntarily move into a giant mud hut, stop using any modern conveniences and leave the rest of us the hell alone.

it’s been obvious for a while now that any kind of coexistence with these insane rodents is impossible for reasonable people.
