Inspector general's office accuses EPA of blocking internal probes citing national security

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A unit run by President Barack Obama's political staff inside the Environmental Protection Agency operates illegally as a "rogue law enforcement agency" that has blocked independent investigations by the EPA's inspector general for years, a top investigator says.

Now why on earth would they try to stifle independent investigations?

Finding out the Truth might be the # 1 reason.

EPA's Office of Homeland Security was set up in 2003 by an administrative order, and has no statutory authority to conduct investigations or enforce the law. But since July 2012, in an agreement with the FBI, it has been the primary contact on all investigations with a connection to national security.

Tell the remaining staff the degree to which their charter has been narrowed.

Explain to the citizens that the remaining staff and budget is MORE than adequate to execute the true charter of the EPA, and reins in the bloated and unaccountable agency.

First off, under the IG act, the IG of each agency is to have all the internal investigative and audit functions of an agency, except defense, under his control. This stuff with IGs and his excellency goes back to the early days of Obama, Act 1 when IG Walpin who was looking into things under the Americorps assistance program was sacked because Walpin, a Bush appointee, was getting close to suspending Sacramento from its giveaway program. The mayor of Sacramento, a former NBA player and cohort of Obama complained and Walpin was fired. Any independent IG under Obama Act II knows the consequences of standing up for what is right and exposing corruption. So, I give this “assistant IG” props for taking on the issue. Were I he, I would check my insurance policies closely, life and health.
