Sarah Palin, Boris Johnson And How To Get Elected By Telling Good Jokes In The Internet Age
Forbes ^ | April 30, 2014 | David Nicholson

Posted on 05/01/2014 12:14:10 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin’s latest contribution to global political debate, saying of Islamic prisoners: “If I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we baptise terrorists”, left many of her allies astonished.

Even by her own standards of shooting from the hip and a willingness to offend, this was new territory. She managed at once to outrage her Christian support base, liberals who abhor the use of torture and minorities throughout the land.

Nevertheless, her comments were of a piece with her own clueless approach to international relations, claiming to see Russia from her home in Alaska, being unable to name any current affairs journals for example. They are also part of a growing trend in political discourse.

Across Europe and the States, voters are tired of identikit politicians who recite bland focus group-generated mantras. In the age of Twitter, Facebook and the instant appeal of a lively, amusing quote, politicians who demonstrate a spark of individuality, a whiff of the contrarian, a knowing wink to bar-room humour, are being lionised as never before.

In the UK, the orthodox parties of Left, Right and Centre are currently in turmoil over the rise of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP). Its leader, Nigel Farage, is a man in the Sarah Palin mould. He speaks his mind, he celebrates alcohol and cigarettes, he blames immigrants for Britain’s economic and social problems and he can be a funny guy...

No joke! How can anyone take this dolt serious when he repeats the silly lie that she said that regarding Russia.

Someone should send him a video of Fey doing that skit, flood the newsrooms with the video, maybe ONE of them will catch on!

Dearest Sarah, the ink they spill attempting to shut you up once and for all is comical! I laugh at them right along with her :)

YOU know what Sarah also did? She warned America about Putin’s lust for the Ukraine....but clowns like this fake journalist guffawed.

You know what Sarah didn’t do? She didn’t allow Iran to keep spinning centrifuges. Obama built that.

She also didn’t force higher gas prices or higher food prices or higher health insurance premiums on Americans. Obama built that.

Who is Forbes hiring these days? Fresh out of college fake journalism majors?

This POS author is either lying about what Sarah said about Russia or he is ignorant beyond words.

He is man who is deathly afraid of Liberty and strong beautiful women.

I have no doubt that he wears women's underwear-- he is the epitome of the contemptible metrosexual loser

Clueless? As in substituting Saturday Night Live parodies for journalistic research?

Once the bigots attack...the cowards go along with them.

“Once the bigots attack...the cowards go along with them.”

Leftists tend to compare Republicans to Nazis.

Ironically, propagating lies from propaganda is just one more reason that leftists are actually the new Nazis.

The OLD Nazis were left-wing.

Why wouldn’t the new Nazis be left-wing too?

"After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next"

She was right about death panels. She was right about 'Drill Baby Drill'. And - in 2008! - she was right about Ukraine.

Truth be told, Joseph Goebbels credited his learning of the propaganda methods from none other than the chief of staff of Woodrow Wilson. So, the left, in reality Progressives, are still using the method of projection to cast upon their adversaries their true unmasked selves.

I clicked on the link, and they must have edited the part about seeing Russia from her house. It now says it was part of a skit by Tina Fey. Anyone preserve the idiocy in its original form?

Edward Bernays who is considered the father of public relations.

From Wiki

In his 1965 autobiography, Bernays recalls a dinner at his home in 1933 where

Karl von Wiegand, foreign correspondent of the Hearst newspapers, an old hand at interpreting Europe and just returned from Germany, was telling us about Goebbels and his propaganda plans to consolidate Nazi power. Goebbels had shown Wiegand his propaganda library, the best Wiegand had ever seen. Goebbels, said Wiegand, was using my book Crystallizing Public Opinion as a basis for his destructive campaign against the Jews of Germany. This shocked me. ... Obviously the attack on the Jews of Germany was no emotional outburst of the Nazis, but a deliberate, planned campaign.

David, Sarah did NOT say that famous quote. Tina Fey said it as she was playing the role of Sarah. Make sure you know who said it.

Don't think he doesn't know it's a lie. He's more interested in propaganda than truth; as are most so-called "reporters" nowadays.

Funny, I seem to have missed the "outrage" from the Christians, the "outrage" from the minorities (why would they be outraged anyway?), and the liberals are perpetually outraged over everything she does anyway, so who cares?
