Vatican City: Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Saturday that Russian military aircraft had crossed the country's airspace seven times "to provoke Ukraine to start a war."

"Russian military aircraft today overnight crossed and violated Ukrainian airspace seven times. The only reason is to provoke Ukraine to start a war," he told journalists at a briefing in Rome, following a meeting with Pope Francis and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Seems like you have a decent Internet connection there at one of the Eastern bloc countries you’re deployed to.

“All along, Russian aircraft, including bombers made for carrying nukes, have buzzed into our airspace and airspace over quite a few friendly nations and been escorted away by older NATO fighters. It’s the huff-and-run behavior of a problem child, and admirers of bullies sympathize with it.”

I think you terribly mistaken in your assessment of the situation. These are not games, these are military exercises designed to gauge NATO interceptor response times. These are prewar maneuvers, not tamper tantrums.

“The only reason is to provoke Ukraine to start a war”

The only reason?

"Very good points. These probes are to gather intel."

Including the Bear bomber runs by Canada, the U.S.A., the Philippines and other countries over the past decade or more to provoke, well, morbidly extensive periods of laughter on our side. How can we keep a meal down or go about our business, when they're making us laugh so much?

Who could hear or even remember that sound without laughing too much—lifelong civilians, perhaps?

“Those who push multiculturalism protest against defense.”

They are also convinced to be “at point” pushing gun control on others, and restricting the right of average Americans of self defense, while many of their top dogs have their own private security and an inside track to control “public safety” policies.

Gun control is more about long term view of oligarchs (publicly or non-publicly) that prefer the perceived security of having huddled serfs kept disarmed with rakes and shovels versus having firearms, and neutralizing political power, and the pushing of the urban culture.

Keeping the serfs disarmed has always been that way in countries ruled by tyrants and plutocrats.

One would think, Russia taking over half their country was already regarded as an act of war.

But i suppose the Ukrainian has wisely decided not to accept given their hopelessly inferior position.

The portability that Putin won’t push into Eastern Ukrainian is a bit insignificant compared to the knowledge that Ukraine military can no more stop Russia from taking over the whole of the country then they could stop Russia from taking over the Crimea.

And yet calling Ukraine weak isn’t insulting? Nice try, Obama.

I would agree, that is rather obviously what they are trying to do. Much as it is the only thing the Ukraine can do.

Its a bit of a tight rope, Ukraine wants Crimea back but can’t possibly win it back with out the military support of the West, and any attempt to take it without the west would likely result in losing the whole country, and certain defeat either way.

“When the Russian tanks roll in and begin killing Ukrainian citizens in yet another Russian war of chauvinism against another smaller and weaker country, come back and remind us how you stood up for Putin’s bullying. Remind us that you were unwilling to see his military threats as anything more than childish horseplay.”

Until you can tell me that Russia is capable or inclined to wage a nuclear war against the western world i’m not going to risk starting one over one of Russia’s former Satellites with no defense pack with us.

Oh, you think nuclear wars are stopped by being silent. Criticism of Putin leads to nuclear war. Well, we’re in more danger of nuclear war than you fear because most people won’t shut up out of fear. Better build a fallout shelter and get your supplies. There’s going to be a nuclear war.

I have no problem with anything anyone says about anyone.
I simply don’t see any reason for US involvement in the Ukraine/Russia War.

Me? I’d revoke all Russian visas for the US & kick ‘em out. Next, freeze all Ruskie bank accounts & refuse any Russians entry to the us. No more visas issued for Russians & then send the 82nd & 101st airborne to the eastern Ukraine.Send part of the Atlantic fleet to the Black Sea & have ‘em patrol off the Crimean, next send the rest of the fleet to do exercises through the Iceland-Greenland gap as close to Ruski land as possible. Send as many flights as we can close to Ruski airspace & withdraw our ambassador from Moscow. That would give mad vlad something to think about...
