(LAS VEGAS, KXNT, ASSOCIATED PRESS)–A funeral service was held in NOrth Las Vegas for the man who died at the hands of BLM agents during a skirmish in Red Rock Canyon in February.

The service for D’Andre Berghardt Jr. took place at Nehemiah Ministries Christian Church.

Berghardt was moving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to begin working with his brother when he was shot and killed Feb. 14.

Jacob Hafter, a lawyer representing the family says that various delays, including the forensic examination of Berghardt’s body, contributed to the delay of the funeral and burial. Hafter says the family still has questions about the circumstances of Berghardt. “If we find the authorities did not handle the situation correctly because of improper training or whatever the case may be, then yes, we will pursue justice through the only system we have in this country, which is our court system”, said Hafter in an interview at the funeral with KXNT.

According to BLM officials, Berghardt made threats to kill and tried to grab a rifle from a Nevada Highway Patrol vehicle before he was shot.

That is what would have happened to the Bundys if the people had not shown up. You can believe it or not. I suppose that the usual badge lickers and polishers will show up to make excuses for them to defend them and alibi for them. But that was a badge killing, pure and simple.

Comforting to know he’s on guard duty.

I’ve alerted Drudge to this, in case he wasn’t aware of it. We need to get this story out there.

That is like the AFL investigating the CIO in a labor dispute.

A witness captured video footage of
the shooting...“It’s a little scary,” he said.
and that's why they did it, to instill fear / uncertainly...
“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken.
You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power
and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the
power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them.
One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone?
But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted
– and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system,
Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

Since when does the Bureau of Land Management have the authority to stop, arrest and shoot anyone that is not related to government land issues???????

The BLM are bully’s when they out number their victims.

However, counter and out number them, like Nevada and they run
like scared kids.

There is truly strength in numbers.

More likely, they didn’t like is response to their mean-spirited thuggery so went immediately to the tasers. But that wasn’t enough to stop him, rather it just pissed him off and made him fear for his life. Of course he’s going to fight back now in self-defense.

We’ve seen this act by the jackbooted BLM thugs before just a couple days before the final standoff.

Why should they have the authority to detain and arrest - much less carry weapons?

They need to just back off and call the local Sheriff. An armed BLM is not needed and not wanted.

He was supposed to have been picked-up at the bus station by one of his relatives, but was instead wandering around in the boonies. If there is a tox report it might be interesting. Or the guy may have just been dehydrated and spaced-out. Who knows? They say he went for a rifle in the police car but it was locked-up, so he would not have been able to use it.

"for the safety of the public"

That will be their blanket statement for whomever they shoot and kill.

I don;t understand the tone of this thread.

First, I think the BLM should be completely done away with.

I support Bundy and all of the guys out west that want the land returned ti the states.

However in light of the fact, if it is indeed a fact and can be supported by 911 recordings, that there were calls from citizens who saw this man acting irrationally and in danger to himself as well as possibly others, it seems to me that it is a mistake to condemn the cops.

The troopers rifle was supposed to be in a locked rack, and that part is not good for the cops.

However it is also reasonable to assume that the BLM guys did not know it was locked.

So an interesting question would be whether the BLM guys did all of the shooting or did the trooper shoot him.

At any rate, considering that there were calls from citizens regarding the fellow and that it was not a case of the BLM guys riding down the road and stumbling into this guy and whacking him, it would be smart for everyone to cool it until the facts come out in court.

It looks bad for the cops to shoot an unarmed man, but then again I read of a case where a guy had a .38 unloaded in his gut, all wounds fatal and who died from the wounds.

But he killed the shooter with his bare hands before he died.

So we should wait and see.how badass the deceased was.

This was unnecessary. The police have no respect for life, except their own. My new SOP is to never call the police no matter what is happening, someone innocent might get killed and it’s highly unlikely that the police are going to prevent anything bad from happening anyway. Much more likely that bad things will escalate as soon as they arrive.

Police training needs to change. The value of citizens lives needs to be placed above the lives of police. Sounds strange? Not at all. Lots of occupations require putting one’s life in severe danger in order to save the lives of others. Police need to learn that they cannot put their lives above the safety of innocents and they need to give the benefit of the doubt to citizens, not assume anyone not listening to them is a criminal.

Police need to man up and be more like fireman, coast guard, and others that risk their lives for the public. Their lives are not more valuable than our kid’s lives and if they can’t handle it they should find a new occupation.

We are living in a police state no different from those we have historically condemned. The police kill far more people in this country than any terrorists could manage.

Dahl said they were told the BLM was investigating the incident.

Well if the BLM is the lead agency investigating this shooting then why even bother as I think we all know what the end results will be. As usual I have always advocated to NEVER allow a LEO agency to ever investigate itself unless you are wanting a directed no-bill of the involved officer(s). I contend that you cannot remain neutral or unbiased when investigating yourself or your buddies in arms.

My earlier post aside, I absolutely agree.

As a matter of fact, I contribute to our state sheriffs association because the money goes to education in the law, life saving, etc.

When they ask for money, I always ask if any of it, even one penny, goes to any support of any kind for SWAT teams, armored personnel carriers, etc., and whether any member department has such equipment or departments.

However, in this case I still would wait to see what the court case divulges.

That would make a great sign before you enter Bundy Ranch. Somehow I wouldn’t be surprised if they have killed more.
