Exactly. In this White House the political advisers have the highest access and the last word on any decision. Benghazi, Syria and the U.S. response to the Arab Spring show what damage is done when political hacks supplant credentialed experts.

That's how I think too much of the time. The "why" of my post isn't worth attempting to explain if a FReeper (or anyone else) doesn't intuitively or by his experience understand the "why". Honest.

Frightened? Not really; it's more of a heightened awareness of impending turbulence. If I were scared witless, what's it to you?

Make a difference to world powers? No, johnny; I guess your words on FR won't make any difference to how world events unfurl at all. But if too many Americans in the early 1940's felt about this matter as you do...well, you know; We would by now be other than a Free Republic.

Putin is responding by- putting planes over England, closing in on the invasion of the Ukraine, putting a sub off our coast, and cutting off gas supplies to Europe.

So we should just bury our heads in the sand and not do anything until it specifically affects us? That is really dumb. Essentially, Obama's current foreign policy consists of just leading from behind.

The vacuum created by the US lack of leadership will be filled and we will eventually be affected by the outcome.

I think the Russians are more PO'd because of all the media here ......our journalists who want to report what's going on are basically muffled or denied their story if it isn't favorable to the US/Obama. Further they all have to blame Russia for all...across the board.
