Checked on status of three patients enrolled in the Texas BC exchange program who have appointments next week for one of my doctor clients today. According to BC, none have paid their premiums for April so they will now be seen as private pay. BC still hasn’t paid us for these patient’s visits in January or February as the payments must be processed by hand. Supposedly they are in process and will be paid by early May.
From what I gather, these particular patients were previously in the state high risk pool administered by Blue Cross so don’t know that a subsidy is involved but it may be.
What is the population of South Carolina? If I’m not mistaken Charleston must have 300,000 people. And Columbia has I guess about 200,000, so 164,000 I’d not that much.
Oops 114,000 I made SC ACA more successful by adding 50,000 more.
4.7 million is the current population estimate of SC.
That’s too many.
