Outnumber Hunger: A Concert with a Purpose
WCNC-TV ^ | 4/17/14

Tune in Friday night, April 18, to see some of country music's stars perform for a purpose. Outnumber Hunger is a partnership with General Mills, Feeding America and Big Machine Label Group.

The concert, airing on NBC Charlotte at 8 p.m., will serve as the kick off to a year long initiative to fight hunger in America. Participating musicians include Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, Cassadee Pope and more. Gannett, the parent company of NBC Charlotte, will be airing the concert on all of its stations.

One in six Americans struggles with hunger. Through the Outnumber Hunger program, everyone can help make a difference. Code numbers will be printed on the back of participating General Mills products. By entering that code on the Outnumber Hunger website, General Mills will make a donation to Feeding America to help provide meals for those in need

One day it is obesity, the next day hunger.

Michelle is sure bi-polar.

She has been pushing both initiatives for years, apparently not realizing she's contradicting herself.

Her "White House Chef" (who really isn't) has appeared on Food Network urging "lunch ladies" to cook big portions of nutritous food for the poor hungry kids while his boss is slashing the calorie intake and forcing food kids won't eat on schools.

But we all know this regime makes up its own facts and "reality."

Give me a BREAK!

Where else in the world do people have staggering obesity rates while also "struggling with hunger"? I don't mock the obese OR the poor, but it is to weep, the way these statistics are so twisted and fake.

No one in this country "goes hungry" without TRYING. There are numerous, overlapping tax-funded programs, available to anyone who has financial problems. I'm just so SICK of it. Every time I hear one of these stories, I am hardened further against contributing to any sort of food charity. "TELL IT TO THE ONE YA VOTED FOR!"

Is there any problem in the world today that can’t be fixed by getting high and having an orgy at a concert? :)

Need to force the “Obese faction” to give half their food stamps to the “Food insecure faction”.

In my honest opinion, the country would be better served (get it?) by more Americans refraining from the extra fries or helping of dessert. Including myself.

"give me a break"

You are so right. This might be the only country in the world where the poorest people are the fattest. Nobody is starving in this country unless some poor kid's parent are deliberately withholding food from them.

As Getting Gay With Kids sang, "You only fight these causes, 'cos caring sells."
