How to hit Mozilla Financially and still keep their browser(Caveat)

So I'm watching this whole "Firefox" uninstall effort going on, with some amusement.

Y'all should understand that Google and Firefox have ways of winning even if you uninstall Firefox.

I'll cover that in the body of my thread below

One-question test from common knowledge.

1. Are you using Firefox? ;-)

Google is the issue.

You can integrate other search engines into your browser

Google, Duck Duck, IxQuick, etc are Search Engines.

Opera, Firefox, internet explorer ....are browsers

Google uses persistent cookies and LSO’s to track your every movement on the Internet.

My bad. I see that you are talking about the Google search bar at the top of the speed dial page and not one of the speed dial icons. It looks like you can select DuckDuckGo from the drop down search bar menu. I think I’ll make that change.

Humor, yes, and nothing personal intended. That’s irony. Pecuniary pursuits are involved, yes. But so are political speech, psych., etc. As for the various boycotts, those are already gaining momentum.

Many have been fired from jobs and pushed out of schools in recent decades for refusing to support or engage in social pathologies. Rights of Americans have been violated in many ways. Those who did the backstabbing had no consideration for consequences of their deeds (psychopathy).

People should try it themselves, but personally I lasted 1/2 hour with DuckDuckGo.

Bing results are virtually identical to Google, and I prefer the interface.

Yep, Bing's a lot prettier, no doubt .. and Duck's a bit clunkier for image searches .. oh well, another few years and I won't be worrying about ANY of it     <laughs mortally>

I don’t know quite what to make of that last part, but as long as you’re laughing about it, it must be okay!

Ah, good. I thought there might have been a dire aspect to that statement.

Google supports Firefox as a way of screwing MS in a war of the browsers. Fewer people using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer means less mind penetration by Microsoft. Less visibility for Microsoft

1st Google pays Mozilla, the maker of Firefox, a hefty amount of money to be the default search engine.

That's how to hurt them.

Those who care could quit using Google and it would be what, a spit in the ocean?

I’m torn by the Google situation. Google seems to offer a lot. I can’t see Google even beginning to feel pain unless some explicitly “family values” alternative shows up and walks off with half its users. It could even be that Google doesn’t go further than it does because it knows that “family values” people still use it. Heaven knows Google can scan email accounts and if they don’t have cuss words but do talk about God a lot, this is probably Christian.

Also just curious... you can change the Firefox search bar to something else like Bing. And Manage Search Engines gives more choices. Does Firefox still get paid by Google for people using that search bar to access Bing?

Thank you, but, unfortunately, the Google part is not just one of those rectangles in a line of sites that I have chosen; it is above all of those rectangles and appears as a query box above the arrangement.

The boycott is against Mozilla, not Microsoft. There are periodic articles about the percentage of people using each browser. If the percentage for Firefox don't go down, the boycott is a failure.

Welcome! Did you also install Adblock Plus [another add-on]? I get zero ads, but did see one after running Pale Moon pre-config, it was funny to see--hello, how'd YOU get in here?

I saw Pale Moon is available as a portable edition, went through all the fol-de-rol to install it to a USB drive, it worked great AND has all my FF stuff, had to enable some of the add-ons, but can take my loaded-up browser anywhere, really cool concept!

Yeah, I installed several add-ons a few years back.

Way better experience.
