A senior Christian Democrat criticized German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier's stance on Ukraine and Russia in a signal of a possible rift appearing within Chancellor Angela Merkel's right-left coalition over relations with Moscow.

Conservative leader Merkel and Steinmeier, who is a senior member of the Social Democrats (SPD), have been at pains to stress how closely they are coordinating on policy since the Ukraine crisis began, despite the traditionally warmer ties to Moscow maintained by the leftist SPD.

If by “us,” you mean the Russians . . . did you read the article?

Not really. Did you see this part?

"it was Russia and not the EU that forced Ukraine into such a choice," Schockenhoff told Reuters ahead of a speech he is due to give on Wednesday in which he will criticize elements of Germany's stance."

Basically, he's telling the Socialist - SPD - too soft of a stand. Schockenhoff also criticizes Socialist Steinmeier's promise that Ukraine could never enter NATO.

Clearly, he did not. Or possibly he did and he doesn’t understand it.

Or maybe “Conservative” was confused with “pro-Russia?”

A lot of Putinistas FReepers think "conservative" can be defined by a couple of policy positions. They might think the Westboro Baptist Church is great and conservative because it's anti-gay. They might think Hitler or Ceaușescu splendid conservatives because they didn't allow abortion. They'd favor Mao because he said "power comes out of the barrel of a gun." They'd like Noriega because he didn't have a high tax rate. They don't seem to be able to understand that there is more to governing than a few policies that have some resemblance to conservatism.

...and yet Frau Merkel stresses how closely she's working with her new foreign minister, so criticism of him is effectively criticism of her also.

“Germans going wobbly on us now?”

The Germans have been wobbly on us, all along. They nearly ran out of gas this winter, and despite plans to build new reserve holding areas, they can’t last more than a couple of weeks from a full embargo.

When Europe hitched itself to the “GREEN!” agenda and Russian Gas, instead of local energy sources (or Western ones), they gave away any initiative to use.

Your hyperbolic BS and name-calling has really grown old.

Anyone that would like more info than the banderist/svoboda line is a Putinista? You really do need to grow up.

Your Putinistic cheer leading has grown old. You really need to become an American Conservative and grow up.

Were you living in Europe this winter? I wonder because it didn’t seem like anyone was running out of gas to those of us who are here.

There's a very high likelihood that anyone who uses the term "banderist/svoboda line" is a member of the Borscht Brigade.

Really?

Do you not realize that your foolishness HURTS the very people you claim to support?

Like that rant, that could have been (and likely was) lifted from Daily Kos??? Insulting people sure helps the “CAUSE!!”, doesn’t it!

I saw the same as you during the Tunisia/Libya/Egypt debacles on Daily Kos. Time for you to go home, isn’t it?

Were Hitlerites in the German American Bundso sensitive about their being identified as supporters of a foreign dictator?

Why yes, I actually like a good Borscht. It comes from living in Russia House for a time.

While you make yourself look like an idiot, I’ll continue to analyze real info as it comes, to form my opinions. Remember, the first casualty in any war is the truth. You prove that beyond a doubt.

I don’t read the Daily Kos. It seems you must though. I mean much of your critique of the USA is just Leftist claptrap anyway. And surely you know that on the right it’s only the most off the rail wackos who support Putin the way you do. His biggest support is on the unreconstructed Left. So you’re either a Daily-Kos reading leftist or a crank pretending to be conservative.

Calm down, comrade Borscht. You do Putin’s cause no good when you leave Russia House and act like angry young communist.
