Even Chicago isn’t hopeless. Just its politicians.
In July of 2013, Illinois became the last state in the union to enact a concealed carry law. In January of this year, the state began accepting applications for permits. This week, Chicago police announced that the city’s first quarter murder rate was the lowest since 1958.
The first three months of the year saw 6 fewer murders than the same time frame in 2013–a 9 percent drop–and 55 fewer murders than 2012, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
There were 90 fewer shootings and 119 fewer shooting victims, drops of 26 and 29 percent respectively, according to police statistics.
Compared to the first quarter of 2012, there have been 222 fewer shootings and 292 fewer shooting victims. Overall crime is down 25 percent from last year, and police said more than 1,300 illegal guns were recovered in the last three months.
There’s no obvious explanation for the decline. Much of Chicago gun violence is gang driven. There’s no new administration or policy in place. And the economy isn’t exactly in great shape.

Concealed carry and the murder rate there are probably not connected. Most of the murders involve gang members taking out other gangs.
They can’t legally carry in the first place.

A weekend of violence continued overnight across central Indiana. Police are investigating six people shot in three different incidents.
I don’t doubt that concealed carry will make a difference but it won’t happen overnight. Legal carry in Detroit is building and the murder rate is creeping down but its taking time.
Last year there were 10 defensive shooting in Detroit all year, there have been 15 already this year.
For the Nth time since this story has been posted N times, the first CCW permits in IL arrived in owners hands less than a month ago...
Yes concealed carry works. It hasnt had time in Chicago and the murders there are mostly the inner city blacks killing each other over drugs and gang turf.
Be patient .. it’s barely April.
As I saw a cop on the Alaska State Troopers show say “We don’t discover a lot of our murders till spring”.
It helps to have a sheriff on the same side as the people.

Low crime was due to polar vortex... so now the baseline will be set artificially low by the left so any murdering in Chicago in subsequent quarters will be played up like a huge spike, which is will “only be reduced” by confiscation of firearms from the lawful.

Of course you are right, but the point you are missing is the media hysteria over it has been non-stop for the last few months.
Now I don't expect the homies to actually read a newspaper, but the TV coverage has also been high and the sons of Obama probably think that every white man has a .44 magnum under his shirt. As long as they think this way the outcome will be fine.
