An anonymous call to the Police Department vowing revenge for the death of Alejandro Nieto, a 28-year-old man from Bernal Heights who was shot and killed by officers recently, has prompted the department to warn its officers to be on high alert while doing their jobs, according to multiple police sources.
“There had been threats made against San Francisco police officers,” Officer Albie Esparza said when asked about the phone call. “We do take any threat serious and [the matter] is being investigated.”
The anonymous threat comes as tensions between the community and police are high following three officer-involved shootings in March.
On March 21, one of those shootings resulted in the death of Nieto, who had reportedly pulled out a stun gun and pointed it at police. Mistaking it for a handgun, officers shot Nieto to death.

Police Shooting Stokes Unease
The SFPD ain't very popular with anybody in Northern California, lately.
The Examiner page ain’t bad but you can click on print in the “tools” box and dump all the ads.
I think that most large city police departments aren't popular with the locals, not just SFPD. A lot of unjustified shootings going on, in my opinion. I grew up on Bernal Heights in the Mission District, cops were always unpopular there. When I was a teen, I got stopped on my motorcycle on my street near my home. The cops were unfairly giving me a bad time, and a crowd gathered. I began laughing out loud when the cops turned around and saw some neighborhood punks rifling through their police car and trying to kick the shotgun loose. They chased the punks and left me alone. SFPD was always intimidating the locals and not making friends. Not the first time I was hassled, happened several other times. Later on, I went to work for them and saw what goes on from the inside. A few are bad and not out to make friends with the public.
In the 1950's very much better, only a couple of bad apples, steady deterioration to present.
Killer Cops = Cop Killers
An ex-brother-in-law is an SFPD cop. We were close friends as teens before we met our respective wives (sisters). He was a punk, always in trouble with cops. He became a cop, and would tell me stories about cops beating the crap out of people. Later, he mellowed out and no longer wanted to be around the bad apples. As you say, things have gotten worse over the decades. A neighbor of mine is the widow of a cop killed a decade ago. Either side getting killed hurts the families who are left behind. Not good.
Live and let Live (don’t harass) would be a good 11th Commandment.
Not good when we lose the Rule of Law and impose the rule of man.
Probably going to have to lay low for a while and cut back on shooting children’s 12 week old puppies until this blows over or up.
SFPD robbed me of my cash on the street.
On my phone now so typing is slow but the short story is they handed me back my wallet and I realized a minute later that it no longer contained cash.
I am still thunderstruck and no longer trust cops, especially not SFPD, full of dishonest gays and other scum.
