Healthcare.gov crashes on day of deadline for enrollment under Affordable Care Act
blog.al.com ^ | 3/31/14 | Debbie M. Lord

Posted on 03/31/2014 4:26:44 PM PDT by Jean S

Healthcare.gov, the troubled website set up to help Americans choose and enroll in a health care policy, crashed early Monday morning, on the final day to begin the process to apply for health insurance.

According to a CNBC story, the website crashed around 3:20 a.m. (ET) Monday. It was  still down as of 7:40 a.m.

Monday is the deadline to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act -- commonly called Obamacare -- before facing a fine.

According to the White House, more than 6 million people have signed up since the enrollment period began on Oct. 1.

According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: "HealthCare.gov marketplace application and enrollment system is currently unavailable. The tech team is working now to bring the system online as soon as possible."

For the full story, see CNBC.

I can top that...LOL.... well, sort of.

According to a report I heard on FNC from that Amy Stoddard of the "The Hill," Nancy Pelosi either stated or tweeted that "10 million have signed up!"

Bless her heart, Nina Easton (is that her name?) took issue with Stoddard who said it "was possible".

Just wow!

It doesn’t matter: The real question is how many signed up and did not receive at least a 50% subsidy.

Blue Cross Blue Shield in at least some states did have a page where you could get a pretty good estimate of the subsidy you’d receive, given some general family info. (basically, the number, ages, sex, and yes/no on tobacco use, IIRC) of family members. I ran several “examples”: The Premiums for even lousy coverage are unbelievably high - I don’t know how any average family could possibly afford them, but then one can get typically a > 70% subsidy, and now they’ve “gotcha”.

The subsidy money is going to come from where...? (Rhetorical question.)

Covered California Sends Deaf Callers To Hotline Offering ‘Hot Ladies’

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — On the deadline to sign up for health coverage through Covered California, some hearing-impaired residents were sent to a chat line offering ‘hot ladies’ instead of an insurance navigator.

With the deadline looming, an Auburn man scrambled to sign up for Covered California.

A page on the site where users can calculate the cost of coverage lists an incorrect phone number as 1-888-899-4500. The number, which was correct on the Contact Us page, is similar, but just one digit off: 1-888-889-4500.

So what does the incorrect number go to? This is what greets callers instead of health insurance advice:

“Welcome to America’s hottest talk line. Ladies, to talk to interesting and exciting guys free, press one now. Guys, hot ladies are waiting to talk to you. Press two to connect free now,” the recording says. [snip]

Heh. Wonder if this is only with the platinum+ plan?

The administration is trumpeting the late surge in sign-ups to 6 million for Obamacare. It seems generous to allow that based upon families of four, that 24 million people may now be covered. Since the population of this country is an estimated 325 million and 325 is a multiple of 25, let’s allow that 25 million people are covered.

That would mean that, after all of the expenses in launching the program (and don’t forget the advertising), 7.69% of the American population have come to be insured! They call it success.

Someone should total this entire travesty. Maybe we should have just given those people the money!

Can you imagine going back to September 12 2001, the day after September 11th 2001, and telling the families of the victims of the WTC attack that in only 8 years, Democrats will choose not only a foreign born Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama for President but that he will win? And not only that, an Iranian will be his senior advisor? Never in a million years would anybody ever believe it. But that’s exactly what happened, and that’s Democrats for you. That’s the kind of backstabbing treasonous bugs they are. Like Mark Levin once said: “When it comes to terrorists, Republicans want to fight them. Democrats want to put them in office.” And he said that around 2005. And he was proven 1000% right.

massive voter fraud and Bush administration should have been on top of it or the RNC should have demanded a recount. It was all fraud and the theft of our country is well in progress.

It exactly was voter fraud, absolutely no doubt in my mind whatsoever. I like to point out to people that if they want to get a gauge on the mood of the country when it comes to politics, take a look at the reader comments on news websites. Well before the last election I would say the comments where 80% - 90% AGAINST Obama, NOBODY wanted that guy to do a 2nd term....Yet he wins? Do liberals avoid posting comments on news websites? With their big fat mouths? I don’t think so. So where did all these votes come from? Nobody I know stayed home, matter of fact I remember having to wait on a long line for the polling place which I never seen before in my life. People wanted this putz out and wanted to make damn sure he was, yet *boom* as soon as the returns came in it was clear he was going to win. And then these stories coming out of Romney getting ZERO votes in places such in Philly! What?

I wouldn't say Levin was a 1000% right. McCain (S)* traveled to Syria to meet with the terrorist resistance leaders. The photos turned out nice though.

Neither McCain, nor Romney (S) saw any problem with arming AQ in Libya or Syria, made sure AQ was installed in those countries' governments.

Let's not forget, Palin was sidelined not long after she noted that a certain someone "palled around with terrorists." BTW, McCain also thought that certain someone was a "good guy" and would do a good job as president.

The terrorists have their fair share of GOP enablers too.

BTW, how's that Benghazi investigation coming? I hear some youtube poster was arrested for exercising free speech, but not much else. Or what about Fast and the Furious? Issa (S) seems to be really turning up the heat (/sarc).

Meh, we're just talking about a U.S. Ambassador, some DoS guys, and a couple Border Patrol agents.

And, just look at the steel backbones displayed by guys like Boner, Cantor, and McConnell.

Tacit approval, is approval all the same.
