Obama's 'Incredible Mistake' over Phantom Kosovo Referendum
Breitbart - London ^ | 27 Mar 2014, 4:34 AM PDT | Raheem Kassam and Andre Walker

U.S. President Barack Obama has caused confusion after claiming yesterday that Kosovo held a UN-assisted referendum for self-determination – misleading people over the true origins of the country. The U.S. President used the example to hit out against Russia's annexation of Crimea, but experts have noted that no such referendum took place, and implied that Obama's "incredible mistake" should elicit a retraction or correction from the White House.

The error came in a speech delivered at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, and has been remarked upon to Breitbart London by regional experts from both the United Kingdom and indeed from Kosovo. One source said the faux-pas was "the very last thing Kosovo and Serbia need" as the two seek to strengthen relations.

Obama said in his speech yesterday: "...Kosovo only left Serbia after a referendum was organised not outside the boundaries of international law, but in careful cooperation with the United Nations and with Kosovo’s neighbours. None of that even came close to happening in Crimea."

But none of it came close to happening in Kosovo either, as Milos Subotic, the International Relations Officer of the University of Pristina, Kosovo told Breitbart London.

"During his yesterday speech in Brussels, President Obama showed a lack of knowledge of the political situation in Kosovo. Kosovo never organised any kind of referendum, but the Assembly of Provisional Institutions of self-government of Kosovo made a unilateral declaration of independence on February 17th 2008.

Julia Gorin: A Great Piece, but Still Equivocating

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/01/julia-gorin-a-great-piece-but-still-equivocating.html

On New Year’s Eve, Jihad Watch ran a wonderful article by a Roland Shirk, whose piece The New Conquistadors nonetheless needs just one point of guidance. Mr. Shirk conscientiously observed that Islam’s demographic conquest of Europe is “the Kosovar strategy applied to a whole continent.” A key paragraph read:

Indeed, I think the real reason why NATO and the U.S. struck so hard at the Serbs in 1999 was to teach Europeans a lesson: When sharia comes, you will not be allowed to fight back. You are being displaced as the Serbs have been displaced. Attempt to resist, and this will be your fate. Of course, the real atrocities Serbs committed against Kosovar Muslims cannot be justified. Besides being evil, they were utterly futile; the battle for Kosovo had been fought decades before, and lost.
It’s in the second half of that paragraph that one sees where Mr. Shirk requires some guidance: “Of course, the real atrocities Serbs committed against Kosovar Muslims cannot be justified. Besides being evil….”

“Forget multi-ethnic Kosovo. Forget Resolution 1244. We only signed that to get rid of the Serbs.” — Balkans “peace negotiator” Richard Holbrooke,1999

No. This is much worse. That was an off the cuff stupid. This was a crafted international speech.

Not directly but by proxies. The General took great pride in bombing the life out of Serbia to give Kosovo standing in NATO. This was a great military action according to some people but a great fiasco and betrayow by others, including me, to benefit Muslims.

Another minion who follows the Obama doctrine (solipsism syndrome)
Fareed Zakaria
You can see a similar pattern with Iran. The Bush administration largely pressured that country bilaterally. The Obama administration was able to get much more effective pressure because it presented Iran’s nuclear program as a threat to global norms of nonproliferation, persuaded the other major powers to support sanctions, enacted them through the United Nations and thus ensured that they were comprehensive and tight. This is what leadership looks like in the 21st century.

There is an evolving international order with new global norms making war and conquest increasingly rare. We should strengthen, not ridicule, it. Yes, some places stand in opposition to this trend — North Korea, Syria, Russia. The people running these countries believe that they are charting a path to greatness and glory. But they are the ones living in a fantasy world.”

Just because the liberals proclaim what is normal, does not make it so.
