No Towel Service? Dem. Bruce Braley Complains About Doing Own Laundry (Iowa)

U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley is likely sweating it after a remark about the lack of towel service at an exclusive gym that has remained open to lawmakers during the government shutdown.

The Iowa congressman defended the backlash for the gym's continued operation, while thousands of government employees are furloughed, including workers at the fitness center.

He said on the "Bill Press Show:" "There's hardly anybody working down there. There's no towel service. So we're doing our own laundry down there. And we pay a fee to belong to the House gym. So this is no different than if you're working for an employer that offers a wellness program, you pay a fee to belong. That's what we do there."

Democrat Bruce Braley apologizes for comments criticizing Sen. Chuck Grassley’s qualifications

“If you help me win this race, you may have someone with your background, your experience, your voice ... on the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Braley said, as captured on the video posted from a January fundraiser. “Or you might have a farmer from Iowa who never went to law school, never practiced law, serving as the next chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.”

Braley apologized to Grassley in person at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, an aide said.

“I apologize to Sen. Grassley and anyone I may have offended,” Braley said in a press statement issued by his campaign.

it didn’t sound like he was complaining about it... he sounded more like he was defending the gym... but this kind of stuff happens to the Republicans all the time, so i think it’s funny...

But you slugs allowed Dear Leader to close memorials to World War II veterans and let it get away with blaming it on the “shutdown.”

Torches and pitchforks yet, anyone?

Got this from Sam Clovis today:

Congressman Bruce Braley is at it again. From his comments during the government shutdown about not having towel service at the posh Capitol Hill gym, to his comments yesterday about Iowa’s hard-working farmers, Bruce Braley has “gone Washington.” Has he forgotten who he represents? We don’t need another Washington elitist in the U.S. Senate. Look at where that has gotten us.

Bruce Braley thinks that Iowa needs to send someone to the U.S. Senate who “went to law school” as if it were a prerequisite to represent you in what is supposed to be a citizen legislature. And even worse, he stated that we would be better off with him as our senator, not a hard-working farmer from Iowa.

Many of our founders were farmers, the scribes of the very foundation of our great nation and our Constitution. I would submit that Iowa and our great nation would be in a much better place with more hard-working men and women serving in those hallowed halls, not less.
