Michelle: 'There Were Laws in America that Allowed Discrimination Against Black People Like Me'
The Weekly Standard ^ | March 25, 2014 | Daniel Halper

First Lady Michelle Obama talked about America as she visited a school today in China. She talked about the American dream:

And my story isn’t unusual in America. Some of our most famous athletes, like LeBron James, and artists, like the singer Janelle Monae, came from struggling families like mine, as do many business leaders -- like Howard Schultz. He’s the head of a company called Starbucks, which many of you may have heard of. When Mr. Schultz was a boy his father lost his job, leaving their family destitute. But Mr. Schultz worked hard. He got a scholarship to a university, and eventually built the largest coffeehouse company in the world.

And then there’s this other guy I know who was raised by a single mother who sometimes struggled to afford food for their family. But like me, this guy got scholarships and loans to attend universities. He became a lawyer and a professor, and then he was a state senator and then a national senator. And then, he became President of the United States. This guy I’m talking about is my husband, Barack Obama. (Applause.)

These stories are the stories of so many Americans, and of America itself. Because in America, we believe that no matter where you live or how much money your parents have, or what race or religion or ethnicity you are, if you work hard and believe in yourself, then you should have a chance to succeed. We also believe that everyone is equal, and that we all have the right to say what we think and worship as we choose, even when others don’t like what we say or don’t always agree with what we believe.

But warned that not everything is perfect. "Now of course, living up to these ideals isn’t always easy. And there have been times in our history where we have fallen short. Many decades ago, there were actually laws in America that allowed discrimination against black people like me, who are a minority in the United States. But over time, ordinary citizens decided that those laws were unfair. So they held peaceful protests and marches. They called on government officials to change those laws, and they voted to elect new officials who shared their views," she said.

"And slowly but surely, America changed. We got rid of those unjust laws. And today, just 50 years later, my husband and I are President and First Lady of the United States. And that is really the story of America –- how over the course of our short history, through so many trials and struggles, we have become more equal, more inclusive, and more free."

Mr. Obama's mother "struggled to afford food" while working for the Ford Foundation? Yeah, okay.

They dishonor those who truly did struggle under racism and denial of opportunity.

Oh. you ARE here. Rumors of your death have been greatly exaggerated ;)

As for the article, the only thing that's ever oppressed the first lady is her ponderous weight as she lifts yet another twinkie to that sweat-stained brow out in the cotton fields of yore!

There's other black people like Michelle?? I'm not so sure -- the last hundred black people I've run into didn't act condescending or try to tell me what I was allowed to eat.

Real classy Michelle. You go all the way to the other side of the world on our tax dollars, stay in a hotel at the rate of over $8000. EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH NIGHT!!!! and what’s the first thing you do? Well, of course, Michelle plays that smelly, worn out, torn up RACE CARD. You ungrateful -——!
This happens at a moment in history where the ChiComs are beginning to see the advantages of the capitalist system. You can bet Mandarin tongues were wagging in baffled disbelief after hearing her little pity party.

Feb 18, 2008 [Milwaukee]:

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country." Michelle Obama [FLOHUS: the ambassador of hatred]

**Nothing America has done in Michelle Obama’s adult life, which at 44 goes back 26 years to 1982, has made her proud of her country? Nothing? Not winning the Cold War? Not our regular and orderly transitions of power based on the rule of law? Not the fact that we feed and defend the world, not that we lead in science and technology research, not that we elected the first black president in 1992…nothing? Not the fact that she and her husband were able to go to Ivy League schools before embarking on extremely lucrative careers? Not the fact that we help out in disasters wherever they strike in the world?**

A HUGE priority of the Left is to "Keep the '60s Alive" -- so even though massive strides have been made in every area of life since then -- race, the environment, women's issues and so many more -- they have to keep the low-info voter thinking it's still 1968 and only Democrats can save them!

Your alive! There was a series of post that you were gone. Michelle Obama is just another parasite from Chicago. Supposedly there was limited press coverage to be achieved for her in China. But the Chinese are getting sick of her mother. The woman from Hell, MI, even though she never lived in MI.

All her and Barry ever did was use the color of their skin to get in line ahead of other more worthy people. They use their color and reverse racism to their advantage every chance they get.

They’re no better than the worst race hustlers out there.

Asians, as a rule, really look down of blacks, in my experience, so I think it'll probably be filed under "sh^+ black people say" or some such.

Ones who have a reason to mix with them, as in the USA. They’re seen as bums. Chinese meet virtually no black people in China and have no reason to have such a bias.

And now America has laws to discriminate against white men.

After 50 years of browbeating, accusations of being racist, sexist, etc., of our youth being drugged into passive submission, something is going to break, sooner or later.

The only reason it hasn't yet is that white women (not all, but enough) have been sold on the feminist thing enough to turn on their own boys. When those children realize their manhood was sold for a mass of pottage, they will rebel.

These are ugly seeds to sow, indeed, and the harvest will be bitter.

She’s telling the Chinese who discriminate even against other Chinese? Even today with all kinds of letters. Like ABC Chinese etc. Tienammen Square, Mrs. Obama? And you’re talking the race card about the USA? Why are you even there after the ‘Square’ incident? Shame on you.

Democrats have passed a lot of bad laws over the years, and they are still at it.
